I have a Savage model 25T in .22 hornet. The gun was made to shoot the Hornady 35 gr- V-max. They fit the magazine while other bullets can be used sometimes you have to single load them and thats a booger with the design of the gun. I had someone pass along to me that they heard Hornady was going to stop making this bullet. Anyone else heard of this.

I know they are hard to find. May I suggest the Sierra 40 Gr 22 Hornet bullet.. Hornaday also makes a 35 gr NTX, and Nosler makes a 35 grain.. Speer makes a 33 gr.
I found some factory Nosler 22 Hornet 35g ammo on sale/close out at a local farm store. The Varmageddon lists for over $80/50. They had it for $39. Still pricey but shot real well, and I have some good brass to play with.
dedogsSmokinJoe- a quick search last night of over a half dozen sights revealed the 35g Noslers to be out of stock everywhere I looked.

I use a 34 gr Midway dogtown bullet in front of 10 gr of 2400 in a CZ 527. Don't mind the time it takes me and I really enjoy shooting circles around my 2 buddies with 17 HMR for less money and reloadable. I just looked and they're 65.00 for 500. Real light load and is not hard on cases. SHOOTS GREAT
Most of the 40 Gr. and over tipped bullets are too long to be used in repeaters. Most of the non-tipped 40 and 45 gr. bullets can still be used without going over the OAL that your gun will feed from the magazine. The non-lead/green 35 grainers that I have seen are also too long. I haven't heard anything about the 35 gr. vmax being discontinued. It may just be the recent shortage in guns/ammo making them hard to find.
I don't use the 35 grain bullets, but have shot a few of them in the past. They shoot very well in fairly calm conditions out to 150 yards or so. All my rifles are single shot so length is not anissue. I shoot 40 grain bullets in everything up to 223 with excellent results out to 350 yards.
My ruger likes Hornady 35 grain. Everything else sucked.
The bearing surfaces are quite a bit different. That's why a V-Max load probably won't work with a Nosler bullet...and vice verse. This has been my experience, YMMV. dedogs
Who would think 2 short stubby 35g bullets could be very different? Which has the longer bearing surface? Have you shot both, and if so, do you have a preference?
The Nosler is longer by .0010 on average measured with the Hornady tool. Your results may be different. Yes I have used both. The ground squirrels and coyotes don't seem to know the difference. I think the V-max may be a little more frangible. dedogs
Any suggestions on where to find the 35 gr NTX 22 Cal? This one has been a tough one to find.

No but I have been seing some 36 Gr Barnes now.
Keep checking Sheels. They ocasionally have 35 grain VMax and others at very resasonable prices and lighting delivery
