TS Customs RimX Build - The first 1000 rounds.

Is that a good thing? How it that beneficial?
I don't think its a "good" thing in so much as was about the only way to get to the finish line. Now that people see the extraction system they've come up with... it opens the flood gates regarding the concept. I've never seen a rimmed extraction system like this before. Never talked to anyone that has. The extractor doesn't come all the way around the rim, it just barely comes past the apex of the arc the rim creates. Enough to grab it, but due to the fact there is only a few thousandths of an inch space between the front of the extractor and the breech face... there isn't enough room to put some kind of radius or angle on the front of it which would allow it to snap over a rim. Secondly, if it can snap over, then it can move... and if it can move, it won't be very good at extracting the round in comparison to a static. Think Mauser CRF action. They eventually figured out how to get one to single load and snap over... but they don't like it very much. In that instance, the case head on a centerfire is very thick, in comparison to a rimfire, leaving lots of room for an extractor to reach up over the rim on a centerfire.

So, because there is no room for any angle or radius on the front of the extractors, they can't easily be moved aside to get a round past them from straight on to the front.

What I will say unequivocally is that not requiring extractor cuts in the barrel is absolutely a good thing. It's an amazing thing. This means we can now do drop-in pre-fit barrels for a rimfire. Revolutionary. So the decision was clearly made that its much more important to not require extractor cuts in the barrel, than it is to be able to single load. A decision I wholly agree with.

It's a brand new never-before-seen system that is marvelous in its simplicity and reliability, but it does have that one singular drawback: You can't single load traditionally. Having said that, it would not be difficult to create a magazine or sled with a 1 round capacity that you could load one round at a time to feed up properly from beneath.

the reason that i asked.. i would like to see how they do against the Turbo..or the 2500

Doc, In RFBR you know it is barrel/chamber dependent just like everything thing out there. followed by ignition. and if the other guys stick to their current barrel selections, I don't see them lighting the RFBR world on fire with their single shot.
What I see in this new RimX is the ability to do indexing much easier then current barrel setups. with no need for extractor timing, using a barrel nut/collar can be done. will it help who knows, but the possibilities are there.

This is essentially how the single shot followers work in the CZ 527 17 Hornets too. The CZ 527 is a CRF and if you try and single feed a round by pushing it up in the chamber then try and close the bolt that big claw extractor has a hard time snapping over the rim, but if you use the single shot follower it ramps up and feeds the rim into the bolt face without any problem.

For me, I have no interest in a single shot version so it's a moot point. I'll take mine in repeater form and chambered in 17 WSM please. :)

Oh and i loved the pics that Kevin posted today.. awesome!

Downright unpleasant winter conditions out... so, an opportunity to function test the RimX in sub-freezing temps. Absolutely horrific 22lr shooting conditions. Wind chill was about 5 degrees above zero. Sun was out evaporating the snow like crazy, which was causing absurd amounts of mirage, and the wind was blasting on me 13-20mph. It was cold, and unpleasant. Anyway... I laid down, shot for group size, and shot up a box of R50. The RimX didn't miss a beat. 100% function.

I cried tears of joy. ... or maybe it was the wind freezing my eyeballs. In either event, they froze to my face before they hit my beard. I called it quits. ;)

OK... You most definitely have a point. But. Raise you one. Hows the local Mexican food choices around there?

This is a very innovate rimfire action and magazine combination, I will agree with that. But if any person goes on record to say this is the APEX in rimfire actions on a site titled "Accurate Shooter", it would substantiate your claims greatly if you could post some record setting or at least impressive groups or targets. I own a few high quality rimfire rifles and I am very curious exactly how accurate this platform can be.

So what did you figure out with the trigger?
Great shooting and video!
I ran the weight adjustment all the way in, and all the way out a dozen times. I took the bolt out of the rifle, and stabbed the sear while breaking the trigger about a hundred times... and it seems to have come around.

I have another trigger tech diamond here, and have a bix'n andy tac sport pro coming as well.
