NF Benchrest

I just put a NF Benchrest scope on my groundhog rifle I will using this year. I was wondering if anyone else had one on their groundhog rifle and if so how do you like it.

Have had them on BR rifles, very bright. You will like it. Only groundhog I ever shot with one was with .22 BR I put together with a Savage action I had laying around, a Shilen barrel I won and Shaheen Baby Tracker stock I won. It was laying down eating just shy of 300 yds. Held on his ear, shot him right in the ear. Only time I had that gun in the field and it and the Nightforce performed great. Have fun. If you havd the DD model, set it on 22x and with the bottem dot yoy will be dead on or very close at 500yds.Try it. I use Win.748, 52gr Barts bullet, Br4 primers.

I do have the NP-2DD reticle. I really like that reticle and have had it in all the NF scopes I have had in the past. I really like the NXS model with the side focus but being left hand I really didn't care for the side focus and the Benchrest cost a little less also.

Always enjoyed mine on a deuce, 17 Mach IV, and a 22PPC Short for whistle pigs. The 1/8 MOA clicks are nice as well for smaller caliber adjustments. Glass is fantastic too. Negatives would be size and weight if carrying your rig often... it's a lot of scope.

My 6mmbr [early 2000 vintage] started life w the 8 x 32 & the nifty NP RR2 reticle. other than the weight of the scope it is the cats aZZZ. Many GH's fell to it... mikeinct

Great scope but the parallax adjustment is a long reach.

The nightforce BR line is some of the best Varminting scopes for the money. Classic look and properly priced. Plus, the turrets are proven to be fantastic trackers. Don't look back if you can afford one

Yeah the only thing negative about them is I cant afford more of them.

I ended up getting the 8X32 model, I would have bought the 12X42 but it was about $100.00 more so I went with the 8X32.
So far so good and what little bit I've played around with it I like it and it really seems to track well also.

I have a 5-22x with the NPR-2 on my 6xc walking varminter. Very clear, target acquisition is very quick and supurb, learning to range and use the hash marks for hold over is a blessing. Only downside is its size and weight.

Nikon sells one with a similar reticle and features which I'd have in a heartbeat if lower cost was a high consideration. JME. WD

I have the bench rest model on one hunting rig, while several NXS models and a Competition model on others. I prefer the Competition model first - then NXS - then the bench rest. All good scopes though.

Another negative is the lack of elevation adjustment. 40 MOA top to bottom is not enough. I guess that's why they went to the NXS. That's the only gripe I have with them. I have 2 and love everything else about them. Wish I could afford the NXS but it ain't gonna happen.

That can be overcome by the use a 20 MOA rail or rings.

I have 5 Nightforce scopes and love them all. I also like the Sightrons for a little less money.

Agree 100%. Love mine at the bench. But in the prairie dog towns where I use the side focus on every shot and normally shoot >200 rounds per day, it would be a chore.

Yes, and this is especially true on a flat-shooting varmint rifle, where you are unlikely to ever want to dial up more than 10 MOA from your 100-yard zero. Just use Burris Signature rings (or a 20-moa base if that works out) to be sure you are near the bottom when you are sighted in at 100 yards. That way you will have 30+ moa available you can dial up for long shots.
