Good priming tool----with tray

All my old Lee and Hornady priming tools have just about bit the dust.
I spend more time working on them than with them.

Recommendations on replacements ?

Thanks for replies.

See if you can get a hold of a 21st century tool with the tray on it. Its a good priming tool and it has a tray. Only good one out there with a tray

I went for the 21st Century but couldn't get one with a tray-----would rather be
handling primers than forever working on the old stuff.

Thanks for replies.

Recommend that you discard your "old" Lee for a "Lee Auto-prime XR" (with attendant tray). Much hardier/resilient than the "old" Lee, too; and a good price value in comparison to other options. Further, recommend that you consider purchasing the RCBS Automatic Priming Tool to carry you thru the first 2 or 3 primings of your new brass (Lapua of course), before venturing to the use of the auto-prime XR. With new brass, it's hard to get a "feel" of primer seating anyway with a hand priming tool, IMO...the RCBS AP gets you thru the initial seating phases until you can start to "feel" primer seating with a hand priming tool...also saves the thumb pain associated with the initial seatings experienced with any hand priming tool.;)

Dusty it isn't on the website are you sure they make one with a tray???
Yes. I have one of the first ones. Wasnt many more after that. I believe they fought with the quality of the typical lee parts and finally gave up. Maybe @Petros284 can get another run made because everybody should be lucky enough to own one

The 21st century unit has it's own shellholder design, making the cost for someone who reloads for multiple cartridges over double.
It would appear that the Frankford Arsenal unit uses the same shellholder as Lee. I guess I'll have to struggle along with my RCBS for my 44-77?
I purchased one of the new Lee tools some time ago and found them to be clumsy in the feed system. I also had failures with the plastic "spring" after a few hundred cycles.

I had one and it would not seat the primer fully at any depth adjustment. FA sent me new shell holders because apparently they had that issue before and the shell holders fixed it.

It fixed nothing. It’s gone now.

Same, but I didn't send it back. It's patiently waiting for a new home.

;)I have the 21st century single stage priming tool. A great tool. I also have the Sinclair single stage priming tool and it also is a great tool but then I got the perfect priming tool from Darrel Holland at Holland shooting supplys.com and have never looked back. Darrel took the rcbs bench priming tool and added to it so you can seat your primers at whatever depth you want to and along with a precision primer gauge from accuracy one where you can get an average primer pocket depth , measure the thickness of the orimers you are using and believe me different brands are a little different thickness, set your tool to bottom out and still be several thousands bellow the head. Before you do all that uniform all your primer pockets to all be the same depth. I recommend the primer pocket uniformer from 21st century because you can change the setting on it .:p

The shell holder is only $12.50 and really how many do you need? All that oddball stuff you may need to load get a lee tool and a lee shellholder set and keep it moving. Its a small price to pay to get a good priming tool. Once you get one youll see what i mean when i try to say how nice it is to prime with a good tool

I recently purchased 1000 rds of 223 brass from StanwoodSpartan and I primed them all yesterday. Using my RCBC priming tool with primer holder. I would drop in 200 primers on the plate. It never missed a bit. I guess I can't imagine any other priming tool working any better.

Plus the brass from StanwoodSpartan was very nice and got 1025 pieces. So buy with confidence from him.

My new FA has a better handle than the Lee I broke twice. I used to put bandaids on my fingers before I started priming so I wouldn’t have to put them on afterward for the blisters.
So far (knock on wood) the FA works great for me.
