Got my Randolph Machine Fulghum Rest Today...

I don’t own one but shot off of my friends. That thing is a dandy and I will be getting one in the future.

My gorgeous Turbo arrived today, but I got delayed on the NICS background check and couldn’t take it home. Apparently people are buying up guns like they are toilet paper and it’s overwhelming the system.:confused:

I stopped by a favorite gun store this afternoon. 3hr wait to get inside!!!!! From bowl roll to bullets. It's mass mayhem!

Ok. I'm dying for some thoughts and opinions. Seb vs Fulghum???
I own & shoot both rimfire & centerfire benchrest off a Randolph. I did own an original Seb that I purchased under the recommendation I needed a co-ax for centerfire for ease of faster shooting in a condition. I liked the rest but found myself constantly going by POA & having to readjust. I tried adjusting tension umpteen times & I still continued doing it to the point it was frustrating.
To compound the problem I shoot different weight classes in both disciplines & if I were close with the heavy gun, when shooting the light rifle the coax movement was again too tight. I suppose I could have frigged with counterweight adjustment between rifles but never did. I sold the rest & have never felt at a disadvantage speed wise because of what I pointed out above.
I've shot off the Neo a bunch of time & while I liked it better motion wise I didn't care for the adjustable bag top. That can be remedied but just decided they weren't for me either.
I probably will revisit the joystick rest thing at some point & if I do its gonna be a Shadetree coax top. That I liked. They are a good value imo
For me the Randolph is smooth, consistent, & repeatable. Its 2nd nature to me & don't feel the minuscule amount of time lost effects me one bit. I'm not a runner, I'm a picker.
I also prefer a fixed front bag in any of the rests. While adjustability may be nice for various forearm widths of factory rifles, its not needed on any of my sporter, hunter, or heavy br rifles.

Now that I have some time with it:

Just to add to what Keith already said. Another thing I really like about my Randolph is the pivoting top. No longer do I have to wrestle with it to line up the target with the rest and rear bags like I did with the Seb. I found myself constantly having to man handle the thing to get it in position on the bench during silhouette matches.

Don’t get me wrong, I liked the Seb, but after owning them both, I much prefer the Randolph. I’m not crazy about the joystick feature either. It is quick, handy and some folks absolutely swear by it, but I personally prefer the controls on the Randolph. To me it’s more precise and easier to get on exactly where I want it.

It’s just one of those things you have to try for yourself before you really know.
