Redding die question... “small base” application?

.
I use SB die for semi auto rifles and when I eventually get some 1 shot Lapua brass from some ISSF shooters (at my corner of the world, they only use factory ammo and dont reload).
Tipically those one shot Lapua brass (6BR and .308win) does not chamber well after a normall full lenght resize. The chambers of the rifles those brass was fired does not seem exactily SAMMI specs (they shoot european rifles like Bleiker and Tanner). So, I use the SB dies on those brass once. After it, only normal full lenght dies.
Is not uncomom for me to see excelent groups when I use Lapua brass with SB full lenght resize, around 0,25 to 0,35 MOA (5 shots 100 meters).

LRCampos.

Small base dies can be a life saver when hand loading for an A R type rifle or any auto loader. It may only move the brass a tiny amount more than the full length die but that tiny bit is enough to help make your day when the brass will not go in the chamber after full length sizing.

They are also a life saver in LR BR when you are trying to shoot 10 shots as fast as you can to keep them all in the same condition. When the case does not easily extract it slows you down and often upsets your tracking, which slows you even more. That slowness usually shows up in both groups and scores.

Thats reason #459 to have and use one.

Built a 6BRX a while back. The reamer (borrowed) was probably a bit worn. It's a varminter/fun gun. Often reloads, usually FL or Neck sized with Redding 6BR dies can be a bit tight at the shoulder. A small base body die solved the issue. So useful at times. I never dispose of dies - you never know whena tool will be useful.
