It was awful today.

Took the 3 hour drive from Ft. Lauderdale to the Manatee range. Left at 7 am and arrived at 10 am. The weather was awful. 82 degrees with a brutal 5 ~ 8 mph breeze from 5 o clock. A mix of clouds and sun, not much cloud, a lot of sun. The 300 yard steel targets were virtual sitting ducks. The 10" disc was used to verify my rifles zero. Both ARs one .308, one .223. Then the poor 4" disc got punished, punished I say. The goal was where on the 4" disc would you claim BEFORE you jerked the trigger. That poor disc was not a happy camper today.
As usual, the ROs were safety oriented and basically good folks. You shot safely and didn't do any boneheaded moves and all you got from them was "Good shot"
Well, OK, the mirage was interesting when the breeze dropped off, that WAS awful.

Glad you could have a great day. For now, I have to limit myself to the 45 yard small bore range I set up by stepping 3 paces outside my basement door - 50 yards if I want to take a few more steps ; sounds like we're both pretty fortunate so far.

While you were suffering through your ordeal I was having a great time at home stacking up wood from several Douglas firs and lodgepoles and chipping 3 big piles of branches. I still have two more piles of branches to chip tomorrow.

All of the local ranges are closed here, some jack buts drinking Corona's got em shut down ? Local PDs are starting to enforce the stay at home orders, For now just warnings, It should be entertaining soon the next step fining the bone heads 1000.00 each, Our population here is HUGE I am afraid that the national guard will have to be deployed for more than assisting with food delivery and such, I am missing some of the best time to shoot still cool enough to go all day by the time this is over it will be to hot And I have 5 new barrels that haven't even gone bang once, the winters collection-projects, Florida sounds nice?? saw 50.00 round trip air fare hmmmmmm

Weather was pretty decent in S E N C today. About 80 degrees but some tail wind at my 100 yd. "path in the swamp". Finally took the time to shoot an AR I've had for quite awhile. Bought the used .223 upper from a member here on the site and ordered a new RRA Varmint lower to accompany it. Working out pretty well I think. Stay safe and well everybody.

FL is stopping I-95 and I-10 traffic if you have a suspicious car tag like from LA or NY, per the news. Even saw where NC closed/blocked the Cherhala Skyway at the state line to keep TN out, or is it to keep NC in. Could get worse before it gets better

I may go and help pour and finish a 40 yard driveway tomorrow in Lake City Fl. If I choose too. This week I will travel 10 miles from my house to shoot at my local 300 yard range that I'm a member of. The 100 yards I shoot at home gets a little boring. If I am reloaded up come Friday I may go to my local to me (44 miles) 1000 yard steel range.
