Got to be for match rifle shooting. They use stripper clips for rapids. Is the top of the action clip slotted?

Yes, it sure is. It’s presently covered by that scope base but it’s slotted. Came from the La Vista Nebraska Cabella’s gun library.

It’s a “DJ” original stamped barrel I match to 1989. The stock is shaped oddly as if there very specific match purpose. It doesn’t have a typical wide beaver tail forearm. That flatness in the picture extends forward. The trigger guard is basically subsumed by stock. Angled rear butt for elevation adjustment in a bag. Not a bag rider. Curious design. Otherwise regular 40x except it avoids the 308 nomenclature.

I haven’t shot this yet. The stock is well made but such a strange shape.

Its shaped that way for an exact reason. Its designed for NRA Highpower XTC shooting. Off hand/ Standing, Sitting Rapid Fire, at 200yds, Prone rapidfire at 300 yards and Slow fire at 600 yards

More a Competition Match Rifle than a Weapon. Just sayin.

The stock is designed that way for XTC offhand shooting. That shape gets the stock as deep as is legal within the rules and allows the elbow in of your left hand to get down next to the body/on your hip to support the rifle. The design is pretty specialized, and these days I don't recall seeing anyone shooting one.
