Getting supplies

Tell that to the folks that have lost loved ones!!
What I am saying is that we all know the virus is out there. That being the case, you must us care and if you follow the widely available instructions from the CDC, you will have little chance of getting it.

Today I went to Costco. I wore rubber gloves and a face mask. Before entering my car I wiped them with disinfectant. I made sure that I kept my distance from others. There were I guess, about 5% of customers, doing the same as me.

By the way, they did have toilet paper and an abundant supply of necessary disinfectant. Toilet paper was limited to two packages per person. Almost everyone was buying it and it appeared as though they were running out.

Can anyone enlighten me on the toilet paper? Why? A pack of toilet paper lasts my wife and I a month. I know some people use more, but why is this the hot panic item everyone is stocking up on?

I don't know why but I work for Costco and at first people were just buying extra cleaning supplies to disinfect their houses I guess. Paper towels were running low first because of that then people started buying toilet paper I have a feeling because they were seeing some paper products going low and started buying the other paper too. That leads to shelves starting to empty of TP and people start buying more whether they need it or not.

The thing of it is, when people go into a Costco and see pallets of water and paper everywhere, there really isn't all that many sell units actually there because they're so bulky. A full pallet of water is only 48 units and there's only 24 pallets on a semi truck so it's pretty easy to go through truckloads at a time with some increased sales when we easily burn through 10 pallets on a normal Saturday anyway. Paper towels are only 25 on a pallet so again, shelves empty quickly tending to make people feel like there's a run on supplies which increases sales.

All in all I get the feeling are just buying stuff because they feel like they should be doing something instead of nothing.

So far, the CDC has estimated (based on weekly influenza surveillance data) that at least 12,000 people have died from influenza between Oct. 1, 2019 through Feb. 1, 2020, and the number of deaths may be as high as 30,000.
So, using the lowest estimated number that means @100 people a day died from the flu. In the US, 100 people total haven't died from Coronavirus. Why all the hoopla?

Lives longer on hard surfaces making it more contagious, more aggressive symptoms, and no vaccine available is the best I can determine.

I just hope all the idiots that don't get how serious this is stay the hell home and not pass it around during their incubation period . Internet tough guys, until they get the first symptom and then the it's all about them .

I would like to know where all these absurd numbers are coming from. There have been 118,433 cases reported worldwide, with 4,267 deaths. In the US, there have been 822 cases and 28 deaths. These numbers are as of today, March 10, 2020.

Why is everyone so ready to site, unheard of and grossly exaggerated numbers, without checking the facts.

Have you ever ran out?
My brother visited on vacation several years ago. My wife went to work early so no one else left in the house. We both woke up with the Norwalk virus, thank you BurgerKing, (Projectile spraying from both ends every few minutes for hours and praying for an easy death). I first went to the bathroom and guess what, NO TOILET PAPER!!!, none in the house. No paper towels, newspapers or anything. O.M.G. What now? Had to improvise. We each used wash cloths until they ran out, then used a personal wash cloth and rinsed them out. By that time it was just hot water. Funny looking back on it now! Glad it only lasted 1 day.

I stocked up early with about 220 rolls of toilet and there are only 2 of us in the house. That's a 6 months supply or about 3 days supply if I get the Norwalk Virus stomach flu again. That the same thing as several of the cruise ships had.

They said the virus is doubling every 6-7 days. If that's the case initially is doesn't look like much to worry about. But things snowball as time goes on. If this started with 1 person and each gave it to 2 people, and each of them gave it to 2, and so on, the 1st 10 weeks doesn't look like much, the 2nd 10 weeks looks serious and by the 3rd 10 week period, the numbers are in excess of the populations of the United States, Canada, and Mexico combined.

Was at the local Wally World and only one pack of toilet paper. Evidently it cures the virus.View attachment 1163484
I just got back from our local Wally World. Plenty of TP so I grabbed a 24 pack.
I guess I’m a hoarder?!!? I bought some cocoa powder too! My wife is gonna make me a birthday cake if I last till next week. Angel food cake with chocolate whip cream icing cures the virus!......or so I assume!:rolleyes::rolleyes:;)

The actual # are skewed for many types of statistics by redefining them. Flu deaths are greatly exaggerated since death by pneumonia was allowed to be added to flu #. In some states if a hunter falls from a tree or suffers a fatal coronary event while possessing a firearm it is added to firearms fatality #. Redefining events or actions allows elected officials to legislate/tax/spend your money, in other words "never let a crisis go to waste".

There was a News show on saying Charmin TP was made in China and may not be available in the near future. That morphed into just “toilet paper” and they’re off to the races!
Somebody ought to start the rumor that Owning a gun reduces the risk of catching the virus! That will change things!
