Most M1A has a metal stock liner. Still needs to be bedded, unless you got something I don’t know about.

The JAE stock has a full metal insert with two metal pieces that slide up and down in groves made into this insert.they have a dimple that fits into the metal prongs coming from the bottom of the action which is secured by bolts. I will show pics later ,interesting rig !
In twenty years, they might have been confiscated and tossed in a smelter.
Hopefully not before making the confiscator hit the deck until it ran dry...

Trick is- dont let it run dry. Thats a real battle rifle not a pea shooter. It commands attention

If this is Mostly GI Parts and Not investment castings you have a Gem ?
one or two NM Parts do not make a National Match Rifle.
I t would have to be Bedded with Pre loaded tension and clearance on the Front end Gas System area.

True 1/4 Min. Wind Knob ? Not a disk between the Receiver and Knob.
Is the Op Rod Timed to the Length of the Gas Piston ?
Is the Flash Hider Reamed with a #7 Tapered Reamer Does it have a Bayonet Lug on it ?
If a True NM M1A $2,200 to $2,600 ( McMillan Stock) .
Parts Rifle $ 1,600 to $18,00 ??? Your Barrel investment is a Good Start ! 10 Twist would be Better ?

I feel your pain, 338. "Getting what you put into it" is hard to do with some guns. I build or buy most of my guns for my own enjoyment.
I never think about selling them. I do have a few "investment" guns. I don't shoot those. If and when I ever sell them, I don't expect to make more than a few hundred on any of them.
