RCBS Matchmaster

I am thinking about buying the new Matchmaster scale from RCBS. Anyone else bought on yet? Any reviews from our members? I have seen reviews by others outside our group, but don't trust them as I suspect they are from folks who have a connection with the manufacture.

I am not concerned with the powder dump. What I am concerned about is it's accuracy. I already have the 1500 and the tare weight continually creeps down and cause the scale to drop lights charges. I have to reweigh and adjust the powder weight too often. This forces me to use my balance beam scale way to much.

I am thinking about buying one on Amazon. Their return policy is very liberal and if I don't like it I can return it to any J. C Penney and they will ship it to Amazon free.

I don't mind the cost of something that works consistently. Like most of us, I have made too many purchases that did not really improve on the previous item. I need a scale that registers the same every time. I am tired of being forced to weigh each charge twice. My balance beam scale is highly accurate and will change reading with the addition of one kernel of powder added. The RCBS would be OK if the tare didn't change after every three or four loads. It's just plain frustrating to have to constantly zero the damn thing.

I have one been playing with the user settings to get it fine tuned. There’s a really fine line between speed and accuracy. I’ve been making special tubes to fit inside the small tube to keep the powder from dropping too many kernels at a time.

To stop the drifting on the rcbs 1500 dispenser I installed 2 ferrite filters on the power cord. One near the dispenser, the other near the recepticle.

I also use anti static spray ( find it in the laundry isle) underneath the dispenser and all around the table and ground. Then I wipe the dispenser inside and out with a dryer sheet.

That should help the drifting.

But just as important is to set up the unit 100% level and make sure it can't wobble / move or drift any when pressing down on any of the corners of the unit.

I run mine from a battery. No line voltage involved, perfectly level

Why exactly?

I would rather like being able to hold it over my powder jug/funnel and dump it all back in.
And how do you intend to view said dumping operation? Or do you just expect to use a big enough funnel to not need to view?

Yes, I’ve had one for about 6 months now and it’s been much better than a few other brands I’ve used over the years. I bought the inserts from Etsy (link below) and I’ve had very few over charges after installing the inserts. I’ve programmed 3 powders N133, H4198, and Varget with the custom settings in match mode and it drops 29.9 of N133 in a little under 20 seconds, 34.2 of H4198 in a little under 25 seconds, and 44 of Varget in less than 30 seconds. I rarely get over/under charges but when I do it’s a kernel. I’ve cross referenced it with other scales and haven’t seen any evidence of drift. I do all of my throwing with it placed on an anti static mat. I definitely love mine because of the precision, speed, and functionality. Certainly the best I’ve used.

I bought one, used it to load 200 rounds of 300 Norma Mag.

Zero variations in charge weight over the 200 rounds.

Came inside the house, got on the computer and ordered a second one, which was delivered yesterday.

Best auto drop I have ever used.....PERIOD

Do what you like but, the AnD fx is available for 450.00 I believe. With Adam's trickler it's a proven system.
This. I had a Chargemaster 1500 and wanted to upgrade. The fact that the AnD FX120i and auto trickler is essentially the same price as the matchmaster, it was an easy decision.

Problem with the auto trickler setup is that you have to wait a while to get it.

I bought the RCBS Matchmaster in November of 2020. I have loaded more than 1000 rounds with it and over all I'm very pleased. I was concerned with the scale drifting as with other electronic scales I've used. This is not the case, its very stable as long as you follow the instructions and let it warm up for 15 min. I've validated this numerous time by checking with calibration weights that are close to the powder weight I'm throwing. The scale is very accurate when set to Match and can detect one kernel of Varget, H4350 or similar powder. The powder drop works pretty well but will overthrow a few kernels about 20% of the time. I just pick them out with tweezers. I can set the drop to a slower level to minimize this but, to me, its not worth the trade off in speed. I'm going to try the to nozzles Bryan Z posted.

I should mention that the APP needs improvement. I use it on an android phone and on several occasions I have had to uninstall and reinstall to get it to work properly. I will say however that it is much easier to use than the screen on the Matchmaster and you can fine tune your powder setup to give the best results with the powder you're using.

I have had mine now for a few mos. and don't care for the following,
I don't like the bottom powder dump set up Messy and hard to use
Don't like the platen ,Not stable,Wobbly
Powder leaks from the bottom of unit.
Front cover CHEAP doesn't stay in place very well.
Powder drop in match mode NOT very reliable or stable bounces all over when taking out 1 or 2 kernels to adjust to exact weight
Just my user observations, as I had used previously Compared to the SatoriousV3
App does not work!!! Downloaded it on 3 different tablets and phones (NO GO) called sierra and they advised me that they were haveing problems as well with the app running from an android device and it should be addressed by them some time this century.
way over priced for what you get
