.223 LC brass

Graf brass is a good deal . I always size new brass,if you don't I would suggest to at least run something into the mouth to make sure it is round. Neck tension is a different story.

Anyone know or has measured the internal volume of the new LC brass? How does it compare to say, Winchester and Federal. I use both and they have the same volume according to my measurements (at least the batches I have are the same).

I've seen many old charts on internal volume, but wondering what current production is like. Any newer information out there?

EDIT: just ordered several hundred, so I'll check them out and update later.

the lc brass is made in lots, and often dated later. you cannot expect the brass to be uniform year to year. every test has shown that

I find that LC brass is not consistent either in weight or neck thickness. It's fine for spray and pray shooters, but if you want accuracy from a good bolt gun, get something else or be prepared to do a lot of work, while prepping them. Even after all the additional work, you wind up with mediocre accuracy.

Granted, I have only used LC brass, I picked up at the range. Using it only for my AR rifles, for which it is more than adequate.

How many tested ? What were you expecting from it ? I can get groups from my .223s that are quite small,Lapua or LC . Groups are small enough that there is no way to discern the difference between the two.

I bought 1500 223 brass of a member that were 1x and all the same head stamp # {LC-13} . I processed them, and have several sub 300 yd moa groups out of a 20" RRA AR. Just gained access to a 600 yd range. As weather permits will test both at Mag length and single shot loading length.

From our accurateshooter.com main page below, Lake City brass is harder and above average in quality and uniformity.

I buy bulk once fired Lake City 5.56 and 7.62 brass from military ranges and have no complaints. And would never think about using Lapua in my AR15 rifles.

Below Lake City is head and shoulders above Remington and Winchester in quality and uniformity.
And perfect for a cheap bastard like me and I don't cry if I loose a fired case, that is a fraction of the cost of Lapua.;)

If that is true, I will take all the "mediocre" results like this that I can get.
This is 20 shots for record, 600 yards, out of a 223 bolt gun shooting the new Berger 85.5's.
Slung-up, not rested, with iron sights.
The brass is LC-09, match prepped and sorted for neck thickness variation.

Bring on the mediocre!

I also have found LC brass works great in both bolt and automatics.... Sure it's not the quality of Lapua but for the price it's tough and works ok once the work is put into it...

What is the minimal prep work one would put into LC brass to improve accuracy?

Thanks, John.
