103s in straight 6BR?

Have shot several barrels worth of 103, 105, and 108s in the BR-improved.
Good results from 2830 to 2990 as the bullets/powder dictated.

Wondering what velocity range(s) folks have settled on for 103s (VT, Hunter, and Bart's) in the straight 6BR case in 28" barrels?
Only shooting 100/200/300 yards.

I’m pushing mine at 3040-3060 range. I have an 8 twist 4 grove Krieger. It’s a.236. Shooting a dasher with a.266 neck and 32.24gr of H- 4895. 103VT’s, .004 in the lands. All of my heavy 1000yd guns are identical. The gunsmith is Mark King.
 
How the heck are many of you getting above 2,900 fps using 103's or more with a regular BR case using the heavier bullets.

Those kind of speeds are the provident of the improved cases with the Dasher going above 3,000 fps. New shooters often use the standard BR case and it's darn good up to maybe 2850 or so with those bullets. To push above that is to be flirting with pressure issues and case stretch.

For just 300 yards you could go to lighter bullets if you think you need speed. At those relatively "close" ranges I would find a lower and mild load as velocity is not nearly as important for accuracy at those shorter ranges.

You have me second guessing my load with 105s. I'm in high 2800s and not showing any pressure signs. Varget at 30.3 grains lit by 450s. During load workup i hit 2910ish and had sticky bolt. Backed way down on powder.
Interesting thing...Lapua necks didn't expand but maybe 1 1/2 thousands over loaded neck size. I expected more than that.
 
Our loads won't be the same in your rifle or most others. Powder burn rates vary slightly, twist rates too, also barrels bore, land, groove dimensions and length.

The best way is to do a ladder test at 300Y if that's the distance you will shoot the most often.

I have a fast 26" 8 twist barrel, an expensive - accurate chronograph. The high node with 105 hybrid was obviously at 2906 fps since 3 consecutive shots landed into almost no vertical and 1/4" apart at 400Y. It is a warm load but it is not a hot load because the brass is holding up very well. I'm more concerned with low ES and super accuracy vs brass life if I had to choose between them!
