New coyote hot spot - Chicago

Here is one of the problems when Liberal Democrats control a city:

She said coyote attacks are "very rare," explaining that the animals "are part of our ecosystem here in Chicago and they have lived among us for generations."

"They prey upon small rodents ... generally they do not want any contact with people," she said.

Gandurski also stressed that coyotes are protected by state law and are allowed to roam free.

Officials will get involved in the event of an attack and if a coyote is in a place where it is not supposed to be, she said.

Coyotes do not choose to interact with humans... unless they're HUNGRY and the have the OPPORTUNITY for an easy kill.

Gandurski, like a good little liberal, states that the coyotes are protected and allowed to run free because they eat rodents.

Really? In a city the size of Chicago or any other city, where they have no business living at all? They protect them? They are most certainly NOT a part of the ecosystem just because this idiot says they are. They are invasive predators and varmints and should be eliminated. Animal control rounds up dogs and cats to be euthanized why not coyotes?

Coyote attacks are "very rare"? Tell that to the parents of the child that just got mauled or any parents afraid for their child's life now that they have been told that the attacks are rare. Cities are target rich environments for any predator.

I saw a video of one coyote in Chicago. It was injured, hungry, and desperate; which is about the only time they will associate this closely with humans.

I live in Illinois. (don't like to admit it)
You can hunt yotes 365 days a year from sun up to sun down.
From Nov. 15th - Mar 15th 24 hrs
That's part of the problem. Their numbers are growing, just the other night I
heard 4 different groups howling at each other from my backyard.
The IL. DNR gets a lot of calls and they want they dead.
I remember when I was younger, you never heard of coyotes east of the Mississippi.
Now they are everywhere.

Kids have too many other things to do today rather than hunt, and the schools and internet are telling them all that guns are bad. Even if they disagree, it may be easier just to find something else to do...in other words, we're losing the battle.

They also know that the human predator is further up the chain than them. They (humans ) leave scraps around and are becoming careless about looking after themselves or their young.

I met a guy at a range in Indiana from the city, he had a 30 cal air rifle that used a compressed air bottle (it was pretty loud). He was shooting coyotes with it to avoid breaking laws. He said the police were still trying to mess with him.

If it’s over 800 fps I’m not surprised. They consider those as firearms despite their being no ‘fire’ behind the projectile.

Spclarck, who is “they?”

Indiana’s rules vary quite a lot between counties.

While I lived in Illinois it was in the ISP’s FOID documentation there, at least was when I last looked about 10 years ago... if it’s over 700 fps, not 800.

Local government entities may have further restrictions.

Anyway, I moved out of ILL several years ago. Maybe it’s changed since?

More by State....

Title 35, Article 47 of the Indiana Code. Article 47 defines “firearms” as “any weapon that is capable of expelling… a projectile by means of an explosion.” Airsoft & BB-Pellet guns, which are powered by compressed air, are not regulated by the state gun laws.

Airguns are not firearms. Up to now, they do not fall under ATF. Donald Trump jr. bought himself and his son two very nice pcps from Utah air guns a while back. Much can be said about that.

Well my personal feelings on this is, not being allowed to protect yourself by use of a firearm anywhere in the US is against the Law and Constitution of our once free country. so Chicago and its Mayor can go to hell. And I hope a big fat coyote bits him on the ass.

Here in the town I live in central Indiana you are not allowed to use air rifles inside city limits last I heard.
