Heavy ar receivers

I know dpms made a heavy/thick wall ar15 upper that is still available. Was there ever a matching receiver ? I understand that their heavy wall will fit a standard receiver , what I am looking for is a similarly constructed lower to match.

Thanks for the help. I dont get into ar15 land much at all. After reading the daily bulletin I kinda want to mess around.

Not really.

I think there were a few steel lowers, some plastic lowers are a bit bulky.

I have that "slick-side" upper, I don't believe there is a matching lower. The Seekins stuff is excellent. Their upper (integrated hand-guard mounting) is a step up from most anything out there and they sell matched sets. I would look at those. If not, you could bed an upper and lower together for a very tight fit. Upper is really where you need the stiffness. A buddy is building an upper on the VLTOR now, those are good as well. Forged lowers are plenty strong (better than most CNC'd lowers).

You might want to look at a matching billet upper and lower. They're typically much thicker than typical forged uppers and lowers.
