40x 7.62 NATO

Rifle came in today and it is a 7.62 NATO . Question is can I load 308 Winchester brass using 308 WIN dies to shoot in this rifle ?

What is a 40x7.62 NATO.. I know what the 7.62 x 51 NATO is which is very similar to the 308w.
Is the name 40x.

lol
a 40x is a rifle
7.62 is short hand for 7.62x51 with or without nato
pretty much 308 win BUT in the rifle match world there was once a requirement
for 7.62 chamber specs per the match rules.

Mpnext time you’re at the range, see if the magazine will take 5 rounds. Some of the 40X repeaters had difficulty taking the last round into the magazine. There are fixes.

Nice rifle you've got there. I've seen one of those before that was chambered in 7.62, and the receiver had a groove for stripper clips, the front of the loading port was also relieved for clearance. Rifle that I saw had been built for High Power competition as far as I know.

Bindi2 a 40x is a model of rifle made by Remington, 40X was their target designation. They came from the Remington custom shop.

I have a left hand 40x repeater from the custom shop that is chambered in .308. It has the front sight mounting block and the stock has the relief notch at the receiver to mount irons there. It is a great shooter!

I saw a guy shooting a custom shop rifle while shooting at Manatee. It was a 300 ultra mag but made on a short action. The owner said all custom shop rifles are made on short actions. That just seems wrong to me, to have to pull the bolt to unload a round.

Look carefully at the picture and you'll see this rifle is machined for stripper clips and has clearance on the front ring for bullet nose.

That is correct. Remington had pretty stringent accuracy requirements for the 40X and felt that long actions were a detriment, particularly in repeaters. When they were producing both standard and heavy barrel models, they would not make standard barrels on repeater actions, citing reduced accuracy with that combination. Had a lot of great shooters in the old 40X models, from .222 to .300 Win.
