6BR help dual purpose

What twist would you recommend for a 6BR savage maybe do mostly Pdogs with vmax but maybe shoot 2 PRS matches with heavy pills. Is it possible to do both? Gun would be a Savage.

Any help would be great Thanks.

Hi Justin,

If you want to shoot Heavy Pills (105 gr) in PRS Matches, they are going to require an 1:8 twist Barrel.
A 1:8 twist will can still shoot lighter weight bullets 68 gr for Pdogs.

As foxguy said - the 1-8 tw. will shoot both heavy and light well. I retired a barrel chambered for 105's and now shoot 75 V-Maxes and 62Varmint Grenades and very accurate!

What speed & load do you shoot the 62s at? Do you like the carnage factor of them over the 75s

8 twist, .272 no turn neck, ZERO free bore, start with the lightest bullets you can get your hands on and go heavier ass the throat wears and it will. Probably sooner than you want/expect. I stuff my bullets into the lands.;)
If you build one, build something else to take along. Bug holes get boring real fast.;)

For me? Yes. Not sure about anybody else. Been there with the longer throat. Won't go back. You find a sweet spot shooting your favorite bullets they it takes a dump when the throat wears.o_O Start where YOU want it and go from there. If not? It's plan "B". That's NOT where you start.;)
