Hi Ralph! That’s because I gave it to a good friend for Christmas. His first good gun. He’s using it as is until I can make him one of my stocks to put it in. My way of paying it forward. He’s a really good guy that I’m drawing into the rabbit hole!

That's still recommended for beginners or if you don't have easy access to bass wood. Pine and other soft woods can tear and having the harder grain rings can cause issues for people still learning knife control.

We had a pretty durn famous church furniture manufacturer near here for over a hundred years. Once CNC got traction in the wood industry in the 80's they folded( amongst other reasons).

I,along with other small builders/cabinet shops picked up the immediate slack. So yeah,done carving on church pieces.

Yeah, I’d be happy to be able to whittle to that detail.
I’ll confess, I flinched on my burro. I got to the point you see it and I realized any more that I did would not make it better.
I’ve shot too many groups where the first 4 shots go in the same hole and the 5th shot doesn’t make the group any smaller.
I got a couple sets of carving tools, just need some easy to carve wood. Long winter here.

Bass wood or Pine is what he says is the best.
Hobby lobby & Amazon has bass wood.
HD or lowes has pine. Maybe bass wood too idk.

Wanna carve some nice carving wood, get ya some Mahogany like the deer skull I did.....
Also remember you need surgical sharp knives, anything less will not do a nice job...
