TUBB DUST

The man shows extreme competence in everything he undertakes. You can't argue with his resume or his results. Some feel uncomfortable among such company.

Exactly what I find. I could not have said it any better.

I've decided I'm going to follow David's recommendations for the rest of this year. He does a lot of things that is contrary to the masses in terms of barrel cleaning. But you can't argue with his cold bore shots. I mean it's one thing to shoot with three foulers... It's another to center x the first shot... And the next... And the next... From 1000 yards. And 2500 yards.

I will say this, if David Tubb says something works, it probably does. I don't think anyone has any idea the testing facility David has... It's on a level like you might find with a large weapons development contractor working for the government. He's not just some guy who shoots groups at his club. Not saying that is a bad thing.

David does not toot his own horn much, and for some reason is viewed by the community as an outsider or something because he isn't going around taking credit for everything. I think there is a great deal of jealousy around him is the only thing I can figure.

Tubb Dust works. Might not be necessary in coming years as many if not all of the manufacturers are adding similar products factory direct.
Jealousy,you nailed it...

The dust sounds interesting and I will give it a try next time I get a rough barrel. I have a factory Remington 700 barrel that, while accurate, cleaned up terribly when new. I used Tubbs coated bullets as a way to hopefully get it smoothed out enough to clean up faster or I was going to replace the barrel. In fact - I bought the barrel even before the Tubbs bullets were fired in the gun. short story - The gun cleaned up considerably better and the accuracy was not changed for better or worse - approx. 1/4" m.o.a.. Now, after another 6,000 rounds, before I swap in that new barrel - I'm going to try Tubb's throat maintenance bullets just to see how his product works and see what I can squeeze out of that barrel I almost pulled and trashed. I was very skeptical of the coated bullets - but not now.

Sorry to use an old thread .. but -

Just purchased some of Tubb's dust to try it out. I haven't fired any of the rounds yet, but I will say that the dust gets over everything that the powder touches (autothrow, drop tube, etc). This seems to be a real issue and its kind of a pain (since the dust carries so much -- I am also concerned to what its made of). I will be heading to the range tomorrow and will post my review on if the dust works or not (I'm shooting a 6br that seems to have an affinity for copper fouling).

Thanks

Adam

How much did you use?

1/4moa? Chuckle chuckle

Got back from the range and I can say that IMO Tubb dust seems to reduce the amount of copper fouling; however copper fouling still exists. Is Tubb Dust worth the cost (and mess) - the answer IMO is no.

To see if it stops the copper fouling. Not seeing your point here.

Decoppering agent allows many more accurate shots before cleaning. Some people on this forum must clean every 20 rounds or so, from what I can tell, so there is no advantage.

If you want to go 80, or 100 or even 200 rounds without accuracy falling off it's worth the trouble. If not, probably not so much.

Are you saying that cartridges, shooters and rifles that can see accuracy fall off after 20rds that usually clean because of that could go 80, or 100 or even 200rds without their accuracy falling off?

More barrels have died from cleaning rods than bullets. I find it fascinating the things people buy thinking it'll magically make them shoot better/ longer or pimp because of a name.

Not really sure what you're asking. I am saying there are people who can't clean their barrels every 20 rounds and still need them to keep shooting. All I can tell you is this the last time I went out I shot 80 rounds in the last group I shot was the smallest group of the day. My shooting strings are getting longer and longer and I'm finding there's no need to clean as often as I did before.

As far as I know the only group of people that get to clean their barrels every 20 rounds are benchrest shooters. Nearly every other discipline in rifle shooting has to shoot much longer strings of fire between cleanings. So products that prolong the accuracy between cleanings are advantageous to nearly everyone except benchrest shooters. Do interesting leonoff seem to be the first people to poo poo it as being completely unnecessary.

I just viewed the Shot Show link and was very impressed with his no nonsense, factual presentation of his products.
Cutting the annular rings to convert the tgt bullet into a suitable hunting choice could simplify things a bit for the varmint hunter, deer, 'lope as well.
Like he said, pay attention. Heckuva fake wood curricula vitae to boot. Crack pots aren't found on the podiums imo.

David's stuff works. Much to the dismay of a lot of these people on the Internet. Its like they go out of their way to run down anything with his name on it.

Its funny.

If there was a contest for BEST SHOOTER. let's say we will do an f class match, a benchrest match, an ELR match, a highpower match, a PALMA match, a silhouette match, smallbore, PRS, etc etc people would see who is the best shooter. David is not a one trick pony.

I really need to start selling my version. I just cant get the scent right. I want it to smell like blueberries but it smells sorta like coon fur every shot.
