Carbon ring question/illusion?

So with my cheap but decent Lyman borecam, I can see the carbon ring I think. I cleaned it several times. But is it possible I may also be seeing a shadow created by the light on the borecam and not actually a carbon ring?

FWIW - there is currently a thread about the Teslong borescope that has quite a few pictures posted throughout that might be of use as a reference:

There are quite a few pages in that thread, but I believe there were some good images of carbon rings. Alternatively, an image of what you are seeing would be helpful as Nature Boy suggested.

Very common illusion
Rotate the scope or the barrel-not both at the same time.
Usually rotate the barrel/rifle while holding the scope steady works best for me.
More likely to observe (The Shadow) with the 90 degree mirror.
If one sees carbon all the way around its not a shadow--its carbon
If its a shadow it will magically disappear unless its truly carbon
This happens with a Hawkeye borescope also.

Now that looks like a carbon ring but you got it

I think that you are seeing the angle at the end of the neck part of the chamber, where it angles up at a 45 degree angle to the free bore diameter.

A carbon ring is very distinctive and it forms a circle building a shoulder inside the barrel similar to a donut in your brass. Here is a good picture
