The amazing 200 yard group by the late Tom Libby

James I believe Don G. also shot a similiar one at that Nat's. maybe a flat .1. what a week that was the 'Perfect storm " if the rains had come as predicted I think all those record agg's wouldn't have been shot.

Yes we’ve got one at our club for long range but our guys have a margin of error when measuring bigger than that group size lol
So you must belong to one of a couple of clubs I have shot at, 5 old guys needing cataract surgery sitting around a table handing targets back and forth trying to come up with a score. Then, after they give your target back they come back out asking for your target, and a bit later bring it back to you with............a lower score. That being said, what a wonderful target and with a 10.5 rifle. WOW!

A lot of things run through your head when you’re shooting a tiny one. At 100 yards at Dublin I shot the first shot and, as I’m a runner, I quickly shot another. I didn’t see where it went. “I must have cross fired” I checked the targets on each side of me. Nope. So I shot another. “Where in the hell did it go?” “Is it in the group?” “That’s the only answer”. So I shot two more in true runner style. So this “running’’ group took about four minutes. It was an .037 and this was with a .30BR

Yes, Don shot a .12x and said that was the best of his 30+ year career and he didn't even get small group of that relay. It was magical times. I shot a .223 and was very proud of my "screamer" and then I saw Don's and Tom's groups. Boy, that is a tough crowd. I believe Mark Buettgen also shot a "zero" during that match.

Just a side note to Tom's "dead center" record group. All 4 200 yard NBRSA groups were broken that year and still stand.
Unlimited, Sporter, light and Heavy. I do believe at least 3 of them were with Lowell's bullets.
Later, Mark
Yeah, as I recall that was the year the wind stopped blowing.

Mark

Didn't you shoot one of those at Minnetonka?

It didn't just stop blowing it was a vacuum, real weird they called for severe storms all week but they never came. it was dark like real dark where they had to turn lites on targets in the a.m. start....

I know that you are not saying that he used a rail to get that group, but others may think that he did. This group was shot with a 10.5 pound Sporter. Good shooting.....James
James thank you for clarifying that! A bag gun changes things quite a bit! I thought he used a rail!

I considered Tom a good friend. Bought alot of his "old" equipment back when we still lived in California. His and Caroline's bench seats, bald eagle rests, reloading components... He was a character. Prankster. I'm not very good at putting into words what I would like to say about Tom, but he was quite a guy. Very nice group there, especially at 200.
