Criterion .223 Savage Prefit Barrel Plans and Freebore

I am planning this purchase from Northland:
.223 Criterion 28" Stainless Match Barrel, 1 in 7" Twist, Match Chamber, NSS Varmint Contour, 11-Degree Target Crown.
I do want to run 75-80 grain bullets. Northland has advised that the Match Chamber has a 0.090" freebore, which should be perfect for the 75-80's.
Any suggestions for changes from what is listed above?

I seriously thought about going .223 AI. Order hasn't been placed yet so still could change. I'm just having a hard time justifying the extra stuff I'll need to support the AI. If I don't do it with this one, I have a Remington action re-barrel that may go that direction.
 
If you're wanting to compete out that far with a .224 caliber why not chamber it for the .224 Valkyrie? Much better for long distance
 
I recently received a Criterion 223R barrel for my Savage LRPV. Mine is a 26" 9 twist. I have shot up to 70 gn with success, but CBI 223 chambers have a very short freebore so you're going to want to order the match chamber for sure. If you're only looking to shoot up to 80 gns and you have a 28" barrel you could no doubt get by with a 8 twist 7 twist in a 28" barrel will really be spinning anything lighter than a 69 gn bullet I've had 55 Noslers over spin and literally fly apart out of my 9 twist when loaded to max charge weight.

I will never run bullets lighter than 70 grains out of this barrel.
 
....get whatever they already have in stock! No waiting......I've ordered 2 6xc barrels from Northland that have been great shooters.....each one was off the shelf. I have special ordered a 9 twist 223 AI that is real shooter. I don't think you can go wrong with CBI or Northland for that matter. Plus the 223 remington is a great choice for what you are looking to do.

I'm getting ready to build almost the same thing for shooting 75's and try some 80gr as well. I had a Mossberg MVP chassis rifle in a 7 twist and it shot lights out with the 77gr SMK's but the gun started going wonky with the trigger so I traded it. Building a Remington 700 this time with a Remage conversion barrel in 1:7 twist and 26 inches with match chamber with .252 neck and a .069 freebore.

First time for everything. I never heard tell of a bullet , especially a nozler designed to withstand those forces - coming apart. I shoot 52 berger out of 8 twist AR. With never a problem. Tiny groups also.
 
I'm going to get a 30" Criterion 7 twist and throat it out a little. This I will use in 600 yard f class. The 7 twist shoots the 80 eldm fine. From what I've read if the 88 eldm is desired it takes a long freebore of 0.250-0.275, also a 7 twist will shoot them. I'm not trying to persuade anyone to throat for the 88 just relaying information from a shooter on here that always post reliable information.

If you use factory 224 Valkyrie ammo meant for AR mag restrictions (2.260") it might be, but if the 224 V is handloaded for longer COALs (2.5XX") it will beat a 223AI ballistically. Not sure which cartridge is more efficient.
 
Lets look at sierra load data for a 90 match king valkerie 27 grain re 17 =2690 fps. 223 ai. 27.2 gr re 17 = 2810fps

I shoot 69 gr tmk at 3250. Winchester brass.
