Precision long range shooting class claims

Five years ago I may have taken the class believing my shooting may improve, now with cataracts in both eyes I would have to be honest with the instructors and tell them I might not be capable.

From what I read, the guy said many factory rifles could shoot 1/2 moa. I didn't see where he said that YOU could shoot 1/2 moa. Learning to read the wind is the limiting factor. If you have been happy with the other classes there, this one will probably be good too.

MOA has always meant to me 22 shots. I’ve barely had a 1 moa gun in my whole life. I’m not saying just one 22 shot string over 4K rounds, but the true average of hundreds of shots.

The claim he made is a marketing ploy. You hear it, go shoot on your own, don’t get those results and think “maybe he knows something I don’t”! Don’t buy it because his initial claim is BS. You may learn something from the class but at the end, he’ll just tell you your gun is junk and that’s why you’re not getting 1/2 MOA. Meanwhile, he’s got your money.

Most times, I suspect it is OK to accept our “spiney sense” is more accurate than any of us shoot.
If you are already questioning their program, save yourself some frustration and spend the money on more range time. The members here offer a ton of info free for the taking. I bet you can find a mentor close by that will give you genuine help.
Good luck

Be sure and get the one with the Tactical 3x9 scope on it.
Last time I was at Dan Dowling’s shop, he had a box of them he was trying to sell. Said he was sure they were really special and although didn’t have a brand name on them, he was sure the tactical knobs meant they were solid! I did ask if he thought they might be OK for my Granddaughters .22LR, he just gave me the stink-eye.

The instructors are just flat out exaggerating. And this is why beginners get frustrated when their factory 700 is shooting a respectable 1 MOA. Sometimes it’s not the nut behind the trigger. Such tall tales do not inspire confidence in their class, to be honest.
