Hi Guys, I thought I knew a little bit about building up a 264 win mag on a 700 action...I'm finding out I don't know nothing, LOL......I like shooting long nose bullets, like TSX and VLD's....Does anyone know if I'll be able to reach the lands with a standard Rem 700 box magazine, using those type of bullets??.

Remington factory barrels freebore are notoriously long. I don't think that you will be able to reach the lands and still have the round fit in the mag.

Your smith should be able to advise you on the freebore for the bullets you want to shoot. Having said that, he may or may not have the required reamer and/or throaters.

Best to speak with them and discuss what bullet your are wanting to use and see if they have a reamer to suit. A dummy round to fit your magazine would help.

Why do you think you need to "reach the lands" with a hunting round, like the .264WM?
Just from what I've been reading on the .264, they say it shoots better right off the lands...I have a few rifles that shoot better, close to the lands, and others, mainly WSM's, that I have to back way off the lands....

Talk to Bartlein. They know what their doing.
You won't have trouble reaching the lands and not exceeding mag length. It's a 2.5" long case not 2.850" like the long magnums.
