Inconsistant groups advise

I think that you have the cart before the horse. IMO you need to either pillar bed the action, or have it done. Decades back, a friend asked me about a similar problem of inconsistency of groups. I pointed him at a good article on how to pillar bed and he did an excellent job of producing stress free bedding, which solved his problems. After that, he did all of his rifles with similar results.
Hey, can you point me to that article?

Hey, can you point me to that article?
It was a long long time ago, from Precision Shooting magazine that I no longer have. There is a ton of information on the internet if you search, including many videos on Youtube. Here is an example. https://rifleshooter.com/2016/05/pillar-bedding-a-rifle/
This is just one way to do it. The article showed how to do pillar bedding with cast in place pillars, which can work very well, as long as you do a skim bed over the top to compensate for shrinkage.

IMG_0497.jpg View attachment 1136228 Seems to be a pretty bad case of copper fouling I’ve Ran a brush and solvent through like 50 times but I think I’m going to need to get a more powerful solution what are you guys think? Just trying to think of any reason it would be inconsistent.

I have hoppes elite cleaner, and it wasn’t working so I I bought cr-10 have you used it?
No I have not. I have used Butches, Montana Extreme and Kg12. They all work well.

Looking at your picture, what you are using is definitely not working.

Please explain, it’s had about 100 rounds through it in its lifetime do you think it’s past redemption?
Normally don’t see new barrels copper fouling that bad if properly taken care of.
I would get a good copper solvent and let it soak in the barrel. Then get a brush, brass for me, and clean, repeating the process until I removed the fouling.

thought I would ask... don't guess I ever seen a barrel copper up that bad with only a hundred rounds down it... as been mentiond get a good copper solvent and clean it out... I like pro shots copper solvent... I've tried several kinds but the pro shot copper remover is my first choice... course everybody has their own opinion on cleaners...

X2 on the Proshot. A friend had a guy bring a rifle to him with a copper problem almost as bad as yours. My buddy removed the barrel plugged the end and filled it with Proshot overnight. The copper went away, the barrel steel was not harmed and the barrel was saved

Youre going to need a bag of patches, a dozen bronze brushes (definitely not nylon) and some copper killer montana solvent plus a week of your time if you do it right. If its that bad all the way at the muzzle id say youll be money ahead replacing that barrel with a good stanless one.

Fill it with Bore Tech Eliminator overnight then run a bronze brush through it a couple times, if that doesn’t do it I’d get a different barrel.
