Light Gun theory.

Many of us have been in matches where the mirage was too bad to aim and the wind conditions changed too often.

What are your thoughts on a fast rifle that tracks well enough to be trusted.

Proper stock, proper front and rear rest setup. That will help being able to run the gun fast. But don't rush it, shoot smooth, speed will come.

Since in long-range you, for the most part, choose to shoot fast after seeing where your last sighter hit for the condition. How about letting LV & HV gas guns with appropriate brass catchers compete off the proper rests ?? With precision platforms getting better all the time I think it would be an interesting tweek to LR-BR.......

My current rifle tracks pretty well. It’s a LRB stock using a JJ rest and Edgewood bags. I’m generally within two inches(at1K) of my last hold once I chamber a round and return the rifle to the for-end stop. Many times I don’t have to make any adjustment at all for my next shot. With that being said, I’m still chasing tracking and have been doing tests just to see how different things effect it. Small changes of seating position, where the gun hits your shoulder, how you open the bolt, cartridge choice-recoil, and even the manner in which you push the rifle forward can effect tracking and in bad conditions it’s all about tracking well and shooting fast.
