Cerekoted Scopes

I’m a Cerakote applicator and have done several scopes using H series.
I’ve made a special jig/apparatus that clamps plates to protect the lenses.
It goes into the blast cabinet just like the gun parts.
Apply Cerakote while it is still in my jig hang in the oven at 150-175 degrees for a couple hours or so.
It will come out with the lenses condensated but clears up in a hour or so.
I’ve done vortex’s Leupold nightforce Acogs lasers red dots etc.
I won’t Cerakote a cheap scope I’m afraid they will melt.
That being said I try to talk customers out of doing it as most shooters I know including me change glass about as often as we change underwear.
And you can’t reverse Cerakote.

Any way of doing like an anadized or candy green to simulate the Redfield/Leupold M40 Scopes?

I would probably do OD green with additional hardener to give it more gloss or clear with a 50/50 mix of gloss and Matt clear

here’s a S&B to match the rest. H nd C series dont match close enough for some customers.

How do you hang your scopes for painting and oven curing?
I take it you spend some time masking the power ring and part of the turrets?
Do you ever get sand into places where you don’t want it?

I made up a jig/apparatus using allthread and aluminum plates that seals up the lenses.
Depending on what people want I can tape off the letters and numbers.
I screw the ocular and objective adjustments down tight.
Scopes are pretty tight so just blow the media out of the cracks and gaps before final cleaning with alcohol.

I dont blast scopes. I use tertiary butyl acetate and wipe the scope down several times, ALWAYS use powder free latex gloves when handling. For racking I use light gauge tie wire and spin the eye piece all the way out then mask rally well. I also use a vinyl cutter to cut high heat vinyl for masking, strips, ovals, circles for lenses etc. If you’re going to do any kind of volume like me you will need a vinyl plotter.
