actions

why does some one come up with a reminton type action that is beefer in the rear like the hart benchrest rifles.i feel it is a weak spot inthe design.it would make it less to flexing when bolting to a stock.i am not a machinist just a regular guy.

also why does remington cut the top off the rear of there actions as to the front that is higher?
thank you for your imput.

Actions are made to be put in the stock stress free. And the thicker rear part was to be more like a recoil lug when used in a br application with no lug and glued in. Im pretty sure the remington was thinner on the back ring for stripper clip and rear sight usage

A few have tangs with some extra beef added to the top side. Take a look at the rear of the Gunworks GRB, it’s not the only one like that.

Also I have seen more than few Remington style tangs shoot extremely accurately. It’s not as big an issue as you might think even with really heavy barrels.

They do. Defiance offeres a heavy rear tang option. Others do too.

But as Dusty said, if the barreled action is bedded in the stock properly, a thinner tang shouldn't be a big issue.
The bigger issue with the standard Rem 700 repeater is all the metal missing in the middle of the receiver.
