DIY camo jobs - rifle chassis

Anyone do a DIY multi Cam type camo job? Any tips or Web links? Pics for inspiration Thanks

Not sure if you can see this link without joining the Forum where it is posted. All you'll ever need to know about hand applying a camo pattern to a rifle with rattle cans of camo paint.

Edit: deleted link.

Pat rogers, the author of the thread at Lightfighter.net, passed away a few years ago. Lots of good information though if you join this forum.

Going back through this thread I'm thinking this is a practice piece?
If so....
Try a smaller chunk of sponge and a lil orange on edges of black.
Go easy, this is a case of less is more.
It's looking great!

@Bc'z ... yes. Dry run, so to speak. Stopped at my LGS with whom I do a lot of business and asked him if he had an old bone throw away stock I could practice on.

We agreed I would give him back the stock when I was done and he might try to sell it with the camo job… lol

The orange scares me... :)

It's a practice stock!
Go easy, we might be surprised.
If I had my photos I could show you a stock I did for my brother.
Black base then a medium dark grey marble, next to the orange masking tape I thought wow that's cool.
I was ready to go that direction and mama squashed my plan.
Freaking upper management! Lol

I think it looks great. Here is a DYI Duracoat job I did on my SBR. I always finish with a good coat of matte clear just for a bit more scratch resistance.

The barreled action was done by the smith, but I did the stock, rings, and base. I used Brownells Aluma-Hyde. I found the stencils on the web.

I’ve done quite a few in various degrees of “camo”

Use your imagination, good rattle can paint and the clear it when your satisfied. If you don’t like it on a year sand it off and try again.

Here is one in an “urban” camo I did with a sponge.
