I still enjoy my Husky WR360 2T and can’t wait to try my buddies new 300cc Beta that he just got.His 250 Gas Gas was fun as well,I can only imagine how fast a 500 two stroke would be with today’s new light weight machines.Another friend has a 2017 KTM 450 4T and it is so light and fast with very usable power, such a thrill to ride. Will always love the sound of a two stroke:)

Guys, forget about a new production YZ/CR 500, the webpage is total fake click bait. From back in 2017 :

BTW, I do own a '01 KX500.

I read a story a long time ago about why Cannondale quit making dirt bikes. They got their start building bicycles as you all know. The guy who owned the company liked dirt bikes and decided they would mesh well with the bicycle side of things. He did not realize how nasty the leftist bicycle riders were. Cannondale bike riders started smashing, burning, and cutting up Cannondale bikes. Sales on the bicycle side of the business went into a free fall. It almost put them out of business. And it has taken many years for them to recover. So that is why you will never see another Cannondale dirt bike again.
BTW, I used to race Pentons back in the day. Yup, I'm old.

I will always have a fondness for 2 strokes. Still got a couple, a 87 trx250r and a 05 renegade 600sdi sled.

I used to ride a XR500 that belonged to a friend. It was a lot faster than the RM250 I was used to riding.

I have a XT600...slow and heavy in comparison but can be ridden to town every once in a while.

Back in the mid '90s I had an ATK 600 and went on a factory ride in north-eastern Utah with the factory crew. While camped there, the ATK CEO went into town for a phone call where he committed to buy a couple semi trailers full of all the remaining Cannondale bikes and parts.
ATK went on to fixing the inherent problems with the Cannondales and sold them as ATKs for a while.
I foolishly sold the ATK in 2006 and bought a Husky TE510 and lost touch with ATK. Don't know what happened to the ATK/Cannondale but they were great bikes . But, the ATK I got rid of was still better. The ATK saved my bacon on a lot of rides!

Atk was the only bike ive ever finished a BITD race with. My favorite for sure

I need a Banshee and a 500 zilla to go with it. A CR500 swapped Trx would be cool too but seems there are reports of the engine ripping itself out of the frame if not done correctly.
