Does anyone have a good starting point for loading this bullet for a 1 in 8 twist 24 inch barrel in a bolt rifle ?
I forgot to say its a 223 cal bolt gun

The detail of your rifle may or may not be the same as someone else's, so there's no real specific way to answer your question. You also haven't stated whether you need to load to mag length, what type of brass your using, barrel length, etc. All of these details are important and would be helpful in providing the best answers to your questions.

As a general statement, I would suggest starting a .223 Rem load with the 80.5s seated at .015" off the lands, using maybe about 22.0 to 22.5 gr of H4895, then working up carefully in 0.3 gr increments. After an optimal charge weight has been determined, test seating depth out from .006" or .009" off the lands to maybe about .030" off the lands. In other words, typical load development. There are no real short cuts to doing this. Even if someone else points you to something specific, it may or may not work in your setup.

I run my bolt load at a medium level. 24.0 varget in lapua cases with br4 primers 20 thousandth off the lands and i do chase the lands

This is one awesome bullet. 80 SMK are good but these are great

I have a Criterion 1-8 26" on a Savage 10 action. Mine likes em jumped .075 or dead on the lands with jumped edging by a hair. 23.5 varget Lapua cases, CCI 400 primers . This was shot at 300 on a good day. The top target was adjusting the scope and the bottom is a 15 round group. The target 10 ring is 3". Velocity is 2550 FPS

my rifle likes 77SMKs a bit better and they are cheaper and not nearly as picky as to jump or powder

excellent shooting. I am guessing the barrel is around 20 inches
30" for f class shooting

Every one will share their own successes and failures. Classic High Power load is 25g. Varget seated .035" off the lands. Drills the X-ring at 600 yrs. for F-TR.

My rifle is a 223 bolt gun, 1/8 twist 24" barrel
Tikka T3x varmint with heavy barrel
