Having a rifle built check list

If it floats, flies or wears a skirt.....it’s cheaper to rent!;)

A friend tried to get me to join his Country Club when I retired. I suck at golf. They wanted a $50,000 (non refundable) down payment and $2000 a month fee. I got into shooting instead. I think I’m saving money. I’m definitely having more fun and the people are nicer!;):);)

I walked into a Golf Pro Shop a couple weeks ago thinking that playing golf again might be nice, checked out 2 sets and realized shooing is allot "better". Got into my car, phoned my dealer, ordered some bullets, stopped on the way home and bought a case of beer and a bottle of rum. Had a awesome weekend waiting for my bullets

Get into rimfire competition. You'll save $1,000.

:)
I've got that. I thought some of the equipment would do double duty ....NO, NOT MUCH ...I'm holding on to my rf stuff just in case I go back that way.
Ive got a couple of ARA 2500's a pocket full off ir50 pins.
hanging on the wall. Tired of the bullet chase ....

Someone recently told me… "success at rim fire requires literally constant ammo testing. You never actually 'arrive.' "

I' ve manage to get down to 0.3" in 2 different rifles with 2 specific ammos @ 50 yd. Won my rim fire match over a bunch of anschuetz's, Coopers and tricked out 1022s this past Monday . . So I'm in a pretty good place, I think. Either that or hopelessly addicted.

But I've got probably a $500 worth of rim fire ammo sitting in my house that I won't shoot now that I found what shoots well in both guns.

THAT is the game.

Unlimited rifles shoot 15-25 x's.
Any 9's your out of the game.

Im working on it. Last match score was 248/250 and 15/25x. Match was decided on x count. 3rd was 12x. 2nd was 13x.

We're not world class, but we have fun.

Honestly, every hobby costs a lot, be it fishing, shooting, racing, hot rods, coin collecting, golf, skiing, boating. It's not cheap to have fun.

In the scheme of hobbies, shooting is moderately priced. A new entrant could be off and running on 5k, or be miserly and start out on 2k with factory stuff and bargain hunting.

.....and 10k really isn’t that bad if compared to a motor cycle, boat, or god forbid a race car!!!
I've done all of them and more (except the boat) and at least there is a ROI on a rifle to a degree, no so much for a car, boat or a motorcycle (yes even a harley).

Man oh man ....

If you can afford it, just do it. No need to justify it, just enjoy it. If it becomes too expensive, sell it. And if you shoot already, a lot of the things on your list, you should already have.
