Anybody have an idea which bullet weight works best with the 1 - 14 twist 6mmBR and what the max. weight might be ???

Sierra's 80 gr. Flat Base bullets are the heaviest I have gotten to stabilize in any 6mm Bench Rest with a 1-14" twist rate. They also provided the best long range accuracy, staying well within 2" @ 600 yards.

Had good luck with up to the Berger 69 gr ( i think they stopped producing these?) just had to work the cases harder than i liked. 21 inch barrel

60 gr Sierra Varminter bullets are by far the most accurate bullet I have shot in my 14 Twist 6BR (many groups around 0.200-0.250". I wanted a fast bullet to expand on GH and reduce ricochet. It's been a few years but from memory the groups were starting to open up a little with 70 gr. 85 gr Sierra HPHP shot huge groups. May depend on a particular bullet as much as weight once you get over about 75 gr. If I wanted to shoot farther than 300-400 yards I would have bought a faster twist for 80-105 gr bullets.

Depending upon your intended use, amount of free bore, etc.,bullets between 60-70gr should be fine. There is a multitude of them out there in that weight range so you're in luck as far as choices go.

The highest weight bullet that I ever saw a 14tw 6br shoot remarkably well in was a partner of mine had a 14tw 6br that he shot the (now unobtainable) 74gr Bergers out of. Legendary great accuracy! When Berger quit making the bullet he retired the barrel as he couldn't find anything close to it in accuracy. JME. WD

I had 6br built in 1-10. I would do it again if all you are going to shoot is varmint bullets (only VLD bullets need faster). I never did get the 87's to shoot great but the 75 & 65gr vmax's shoot like house o fire through my 1-10.
