DEEP CREEK CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

The 21st annual Championship Match at Deep Creek Range is August 10-11 2019. Match will be run the same as our 1000 yard IBS matches. Light and heavy gun, 2 targets per gun class, per day. There will also be our traditional 11# gun class, two targets, 5 shots each. Deep Creek Champion is determined by Relay point system. This is as fair as it gets for luck of the draw relays ! As usual we will have good food, prize table and hospitality. Hope to see a big turnout for this great event.

From the help of Alex and Tom, I managed to get my first BR rifle put together for the match. It will be my first match with my own rifle. Excited to do some shooting and hopefully bring some more seafood.
That’s great’
Are you coming to Eatonville this Sunday?

Any tips, hints or otherwise good info. for a first timer at the range? I will be the new guy this year and don’t wanna be the “FNG”. Thank you for any insights.

Rick, - Last year I attended as a "first timer" to Deep-Creek and also it was the National Championship.
On Thursday & Friday before the match - show up at the range and I'll also recommend that you do a couple hours down in the pits. - Do some target duty, You'll be surprised what you may learn by being down there and you'll be helping others out. - Bring a set of 2 way radios if you can, 1 for yourself and the other for the folks on the Line. - I found that in the earlier part of the day the benches (1-5) to the left (viewed from behind the firing line) the wind seemed to be easier for me to deal with, and in the afternoon down on the right (Benches 10-13 & 14) the wind & mirage ate my lunch. - So, if it were I attending, I'd try to shoot some practice on 10-14 benches in the afternoon. - They rotated benches from relay to relay so everything was as fair as possible for all shooters. - I found that my morning groups were better than the ones later in the afternoon because of conditions. - I watched one shooter shoot a 2" group and the next relay shoot a 13" group because of change in conditions. - Not an easy range to "tame" in the afternoon IMO.

The folks @ Deep-Creek are Great and I was made feel welcome from the very beginning. Mark & Angie both helped me out in the beginning and for that I'm very thankful. - Go & interact, meet the people, you'll have a great time and I'm sure you'll learn something new even if you've shot other matches.

All The Best !! - Ron -

Friday will be sight in day and Match play Saturday and Sunday. we have far more people sighting in on Friday before our championship match starts there for there can't be people living on a given bench for hours. get your rifles zero etc. then move off so we make sure all competitors needing the sight in time have it. as normal there will be a line boss managing the line etc.

Jeff,
Friday morning about 10 minutes before sunrise they will try to produce the most horrendous synchronized cacophony possible (((KABOOM)))!!!, in order to roll Dan out of bed. I don’t plan to attend.
Saturday and Sunday it’s 8am, with the safety meeting at 730am.
