Basie ain’t common, and I bet no one here has ever even heard of the song I first posted........
I worked with a farmer years ago growing, harvesting, and packing potatoes. Sometimes everything went wrong and stressed us out. He taught me how to ease the stress - sing Amazing Grace. And, his suggestion worked.

That would actually be classified as “swing.” Heavy on jazz light on blues.You mean blues like this?

Us jazz guys classify that Basie tune as blues. Then again I am taking about a style and you are talking about a genre. The first tune I posted is more straight ahead swing. Here is another bluesey jazz tune I like......and have played:

Y'alls music is varied and very solid for the most part in my book. I'm primarily a rocker, but every now and then you run onto someone who is too sweet to pass up. This gal is singing with the angels nowadays. Wasn't even hardly known when she was alive. That band on the other side is gonna be great to hear someday. jd
