Single Shot Actions

I’m seeing brand new single shot actions for sale in the Guns, actions, stocks and barrels thread going for $400 ??!! Why would someone pay that when you can buy them from a couple different places for roughly $330?? How do I know this? I just bought one for $330 at Buds gun shop .com! And that’s the second one I’ve purchased in the last couple months, for the same price $330 Should I be buying them and reselling them here? Make a fast buck or two..... or should we help out our fellow shooters and make sure they get a good deal on gun parts?
Signed

Not now, you let that cat out of the bag!;)

I've wondered the same thing, why pay more when you could buy for less? It might boil down to expediency, ease of paper trail, cost from FFL paperwork, drive to and from FFL, other little details we aren't aware of.

I think that the best point is that the single shot format is now available for the public from Remington for those who want to make use of that action. It's a bonus!:D

I don't understand how buying off this site from a individual would change any FFL details or requirements.

A couple yrs back, the only place I could find the SS was at
Mid West Gun parts, and it was Mid $400.
If I could only had these when I was selling 700 take downs,
they would have bought $750.00 w/ease. Times and demands have changed. LDS

Interesting that the price of the Savage Target Action, Std BH, RB, RP in SS, is still the same, $550.00.

The allure of the Savage Target action is that it's supposedly factory blueprinted and closer tolerances, and the target accutrigger is a step above a standard factory offering. Whether the factory blueprinting and an enhanced trigger is worth that $200 is in the eye of the beholder.

Is it though? I thought the custom ports were about it.

It doesn't change any details or requirements. I was using shorter sentences to save a little time from a lengthy examination of the process via the paperwork and getting said paperwork to and from the FFLs. Not everyone is linked to a computer or smart phone so sometimes paperwork has to go by snail mail, thus the lengthier time frame. We don't all just tap a few keys to accomplish necessary tasks. There are other routes the paper work and pickups might have to take and adding in drive time can also add a deterrent.

The only rig I own that will out shoot any of my (5 or 6) Savage rigs is my XP 100 converted rifle in .221 Fireball. Five shot group at 100 yards from the bench that measures .110". It's a KEEPER.
All of my Savage trash shoots into one hole. And they's ALL set up as single shots be it action or adaptor plates.
No chasing brass EVER!!:cool::D
I DO have the wants for a nice heavy Martini for my 20 TCM Wildcat round.;)

The new 40x stainless actions from Buds do not need "blueprinting" to shoot. They shoot... Right out of the box. The bolts are also timed correctly.

Would you post the link to the Bud's 40X action please?

All I find are the stainless steel single shots.

Thank you!

I’m not seeing where 40x is defined.

That's why I don't want to jump to conclusions. In my opinion (I know, for what it's worth...) it needs to be factory marked as a 40X. The ones I've found and the ones Bruno's advertised were just the stainless steel single shots. By stating that theirs were 40X, I guess they thought they would get an upgraded run in sales.:( Misconception possibly?

I just had a 6BR Improved built off of a Savage PTA. The trigger while not exactly high end is definitely better than a standard accutrigger.

Lee Gardener worked over the action and chambered my shouldered Bartlein barrel without the barrel nut. Lee said the action was out of square as bad as any that he had ever seen.

I had bolt worked over and the bolt head trued up by @Grimstod on the forum. He said the factory bolt head was also way out of square. It now runs super smooth Savage a Savage action.

It is the 40x action. It is drilled for sights. It has the standard Remington engraving but its a 40x.
