28.5 grains of H4895 behind a Berger 108 lit by a 205M primer hit 28 of 40 steel animal targets at 850-1000 yards at a Ridgway VBR match for me while forming cases. Jumped the bullet .005”. Quite accurate. I think 32 out of 40 won the match. It placed well fire forming against about 180 rifles on the line.

The BRA is amazing during ff even with Varget...

What is a good fireforming load?

30gr of Varget worked exremely well for me. 29.5gr of RL15 was also excellent. I like to use 95gr vlds during fireforming and have shot clean in F-class at 800 metres using them.

Maybe too broad of a question but ....Do you think more people are seeing best results at the lower node of 30.5 or the higher node of 31.2?

Recently did a ladder with a new lot of H4895 and VLDs and had nodes at both 30.5 and 31.2. Will test in a week at 600 to see which one shoots better. More to follow.

Any idea how fast your loads were going at 30.5 and 31.2?

I’d guess around 2920 and 2970.

Yup. Measured with a lab radar over two range trips. This lot is faster than my last "good lot" of H4895. My last good lot would have #s like you state.
30.5--2,964fps
31.2--3,028fps No pressure. 100FB reamer, Krieger 8 twist 28". VLDs jammed as far as they can go.
