New Lapua brass oversized?

I loaded some new blue box Lapua 6BR brass and noticed a few were tough to close the bolt on. At first, I thought I seated the bullet too far, but then put the rounds in my Whidden case gage and realized the new cases were +0.004 to =0.005 over SAAMI 0!

Have any of you experienced this?

I was not expecting to have to resize brand new Lapua brass...

Never had to size new Lapua 6br brass before FFing to 6bra......Never had to size new Lapua 30-06 brass before FFing to 6.5-06 Baer.....

Regards
Rick

I have found Lapua 308 brass about 0.007" short base to shoulder but Alpha Munitions running at 0.001-2". Nice!

It is my understanding (and I have been told) that it is recommended to size Lapua brass before loading the first time, both to round out any neck and throat deformities that may have occurred in shipping, and because Lapua brass is notorious for being too "tight". As a matter of habit I size all new brass regardless of manufacture for these reasons.

Which dimension did you find to be out of spec.? Too long or too wide? I have measured plenty, and never found one bigger than a FF’d case, so I will load and shoot if it’s a no turn barrel.

Too long, the shoulder needs to be bumped back 4-5 thousands to fit chamber.
Out of the box of 100, had about 17 that were out of spec. the rest were at -0.001 on my Whidden case gage and feed just fine.

Before you turn necks you run them through an expander mandrel. That uniforms the inside and prepares the outside for a uniform cut....

This is what I have done in the past. My first experience with neck turning was creating 6PPC from 220 Russian, so there wasn’t any choice. Pop it up to 6 on the mandrel, then turn to spec. for the chamber.

My question is, what is a few out of how many? I have 300 new cases here for my first 6br. I believe I'm going to load and shoot. This barrel is for banging steel.

I have way to much time on my hands .

All Brass get Full Prep when New...Lapua , Peterson & Winchester ..

Then I know what I am working with.

How do you prep the Nut behind the Stock ??

I have some that is about .002 oversize at the base and have found that my die wont go down that far to tighten it up and I have a tight closing bolt. A spare new box measures .468 and these measure .470. Thought about trying a few in my "small base" 308 die to see if it would size them down.
