thanks, Darrell Blanchard

I have limited word skills, but just for you, I corrected it.

I am sorry to offend you. "Political Correctness" is not my strong suit.

Having collected milsurp rifles for over half my life and reloading for them, civilian SAAMI cases and dies are always much shorter than military chambers. Once the cases are formed to the chamber its up to you to control shoulder bump.

At German A. Salazar's "The Rifleman's Journal" a shooting buddy once told him he got his best accuracy when the cartridges fit the chamber like a rat turd in a violin case.

Below military chambers are "long and fat" and we use "smaller" SAAMI dies to resize the brass. Bottom line, short undersized brass is nothing new.

The "air space" or head clearance between the bolt face and the rear of the case and your chamber pressure will determine "IF" and how much the case can stretch in the web area when fired. I have 30-30 cases I have been full length resizing and shooting for over 25 years. The primers on these cases always back out approximately .005 every time they are fired at 38,000 cup or 42,000 psi and I have never had a case head seperation.

The RCBS Case Mastering Gauge is far better than a bent paper clip for checking for stretching and thinning in the web area. ;)

The cases below were fired in a Savage .308 and resized with the die making hard contact with the shell holder (cam over) without any adjustment for minimum shoulder bump until the cases failed.
