Carbon Ring - In Pictures

Hi, I have been a long time reader of the forum and took the plunge to join. I wanted to give back on my first post. The carbon ring is a discussion that is always talked about but seldom with pictures.
I am going to update this thread with pictures as I remove the carbon in this barrel. This rifle is a 6.5 PRC with a Muller Works barrel. The rifle has 250 rounds down it at this point.

Carbon is building but I did not take it seriously:

After roughly 60 round string this is how the barrel looks now after Eliminator and C4 patches only.

Verified bullet interference with dykem:

I will be trying the popular methods and ending with Isso and JB's. I will keep the thread updated with the success/failure of each method.

Do you use a bronze brush with C4?

Did you allow the specified dwell time of C4 in the barrel?

What does the target tell you (i.e. has the accuracy declined)?

This was just my initial patch out with Eliminator and C4. I will update with brushed pics and finally what it takes to get any remaining hard carbon.

The accuracy was fine and the SD/ES was not jumping around. I only noticed some scratches on an ejected round, I try not to over scope because it leads people to over clean from what I have seen! In this case I miss timed the round count or it did not like the rounds seated back .010. Not sure on that yet.

Get a 7mm bronze brush and a chamber length cleaning rod. Put a little C4 (or any 'carbon' remover you desire) on the brush and run it in until you fell it hit the freebore. Twist it while giving it some short strokes of under an inch and you will have that ring out of there pretty quick.
