Easy to tune calibers

What calibers have you all found to be the easiest to tune for 1 mile shooting? I know the 6.5x47 and br cartridges are the ones easy to tune for shorter ranges, but what about cartridges for a mile? Thank you

If you're shooting a mile you don't want a 6mm cartridge; something in the 338 class is far more appropriate. My personal choice would be the 338 Laupa. At 7-8 hundred yards the 6mm class is dropping like a lead balloon and any wind is going to have a dramatic effect. You've got to be in the 300 class or more to make it out to a mile with any semblance of accuracy My 22-250AI is terrific out to 600-700 yards. Past that difference, even my 6mmAI looses its efficiency past 900 yards. You need a bullet with some meat on it to go the mile.

It’s all BC and speed, the bigger/heavier bullet needs a better BC or speed, preferably both.

I have had great luck with the A191 Chamber in the 300WM. It's got a throat length that is optimized for the 215 gr Berger bullets, and has proven to be superior to 300 Norma in the competitions that I have shot. But it might be because I have more experience with my big belted 30 caliber than most people, except for those that shot long range prone in the 30 caliber rule days.

78 grains of H1000, a Berger 215gr bullet, and Norma cases safely gives me 2950fps from a 26 inch Lilja barrel. I have made hits in competition out to 2112 yards with basically no issues. H1000, 215gr bullets, and big cases is a pretty well tread ground at this point.

I'm not going to advocate for the 300WM as the "optimized case design" but I have had nothing but good experiences with it so far. I think a large part of it though is that my gunsmith really has the 300WM solution worked out so that the bullet is not sitting in the neck shoulder junction, and that the brass is sized to head-space off of the shoulder instead of the belt.

338 Edge is a very easy round to tune. I did some testing at 1k on paper and had multiple loads shoot .5 moa. Final load shot a 3” one weekend and a 1.25” the next. Then small group was a fluke but witnessed by a few on this site. H1000 and 300 grain Bergers or SMK is the easiest gun I have loaded for that would hold up at 1 mile.
