The All New Hornaday A tips ????

Well now guys I had a laugh from all those comments. Say what you want about the bullets from Hornady. It's really too bad they call them "Match" bullets for many guys that have used them in Match's and have had failure issues. I never have nor will I ever use them in a match. I use the Hell out of them shooting critters tho. For that, they are perfect. Much more perfect than Berger for sure. Much cheaper to shoot and I'm much happier paying waaay less for them. For that, they get the nod. As far as the A Tips, only time will tell. My guess is, the guys that have had issues won't feel confident using them so probably shouldn't, although if you do, I'll get to read another thread just like this one. Funny stuff.

Man I feel bad for all the folks I have spanked over the years shooting these "sub match" Hornaday bullets.

Do the very lot to lot a whole bunch - YEP
I have seen lots that didn't measure very well also over the years, but if you buy them in batches and work with them they are cheap and they will shoot. Got lots of shinny pins saying they aren't all that bad.

Were your competitors shooting factory rifles and ammo? :p ;)

UPS just dropped off my new Hornady A-Tip 135gr bullets. I'll try and get some measurements on them a little later. My initial thought is they look nice but there sure seems to be a lot of extra silly packaging. Maybe that's part of their whole marketing strategy and I really don't care about any of that fluff stuff, all I really care about is how well they shoot.

52.99 per 100 from my source. Too bad there not available yet thru them. At that price I'll pick up a box of the 153s. Nothing I'll use with any regularity buy I gotta know how these things do at very, very long distance on ground hogs. Just an itch I gotta scratch.

So if I shoot Burgers I have to give up my Blanton’s (neat)???
Lmao. No
It was merely a comparison as to what you can have for $75.
I'll shoot hornady for hunting, my 6five loves 143 Eldx's.
Wife's 260 printed 2, 1.1" and a 1.2" group
@300 with 123 amax's last trip to range.
Not hating on hornady, just saying for $75
Not only will I be able to shoot small, but I'll also have a lil adult refreshment to boot.

So, i was ordering some stuff and figured hey i cant badmouth a bullet if ive never shot it so i pulled em up- $749/1000? You gotta be shitting me! Oh well i hope theyre good. Ill keep on shooting full handmade bullets and save that money.

Any updates on shooting the A-Tips???

I see places have them in stock, I'm just waiting to hear some real world reviews. Theres a few reviews of guys shooting them here and there. Mostly a lot of hype (cuz Hornady is supplying the bullets for free ) and very little statistical data. I'd like to see some BTO and weight measurements on a few hundred to get an idea of this amazing consistency Hornady is claiming. Of course would also like to see some groups in a good thorough ladder test as well

I checked a few of my 135s in 6.5 CM measuring from boat tail to ogive and found then extremely consistent. I did not measure from the base, but rather part way up the boat tail using the appropriate Hornaday OAL insert to seat half way up the boat tail. Ogive to ogive you might say.

I should have some target data within a couple weeks.
