MTM ammo box??

Which MTM 100 rnd. ammo boxes for 284W with 180’s? R100 or R100 mag?? Thanks. E

I found that the 284 rounds were so long that they came very close to hitting the top of the box. Any pressure applied to the top of the box when closed would actually push on the bullets. (learned this lesson the hard way at a match) Had a bunch of rounds with different OAL lengths due to the box pushing down on the bullets.

I drilled out the bottom of the black plastic ammo tray. That way the base of the brass sits on the bottom of the box. No clearance issues now.

Thanks KT, i would rather not have to modify two boxes though. Does anuone know if you can pick an empty case from the R-100 box? E

I like to get a box tall enough the ammo can fall around Seriously though, then I glue foam to the lid so the ammo can ride in luxury.. Lot of guys going to the small Pelican foam cases and plucking foam out for ammo..

if its not on your radar...get hinged rather than flip top boxes. IMO hinged stay open better...

I use the grizzy bald eagle ammo box for the 284, perfect fit but its a flip top 6.00 or so. I have no problem with the lid closing.

At Harbor Freight.
Coupon shown is expired,
but they run the sale all the time.
It has pre-cut pluckable foam,
that you can pull out every other one,
and it leaves perfect voids for ammo.

I couldn't get the correct ones from the
"new" Cabelas. Even though I gave them the # from the one that worked. A call to MTM and they sent me the correct inserts.
