Time to get out of Dodge, Part II

If you are a believer in conservative values and politics, please move to Portland Oregon and spread your beliefs. The rest of us Oregunians need folks like you to turn the tide of the liberal, leftist snowflakes that are pushing our state over the edge into Looneyville. jd

I despise even having to go through Multnomah county....

you won't like trying to buy ground in Idaho. 71% is government owned, and the rest is very pricey...

The interesting thing about that is, I find Idaho very cheap. If I did not have the connection to the next large ranch my friends are buying, I could find a place in Idaho very quickly. I was going to go look at a couple right before I found out the ranch was selling too. I was almost thinking that I would buy a place there just to have a place to move to until the ranch is sold.

If you're coming from out of state and going to a match in PA, gas up before you leave. Their gas tax is the highest in the country, 58.7 cents a gallon.

spencerhenry I feel your pain. I've lived in Colorado since I was 2 years old, I'm aproaching 60 at warp speed. It's sad to see what the socialists have done to this State and it's only getting worse.
I wish you good luck in finding a new place to live.

Don’t move to Michigan thinking it will be better here. Car registration cost is on value of the car when new. It never goes down And if it’s a heavier SUV, weight will cost you. The Imperial Governor wants to raise the tax on gasoline another whopping .42 per gallons to pay for the roads when the taxes were already higher than most states. One problem is that funds that were supposed to fix our crumbling roads have gone to libraries among other things. I guess that’s so we’ll be able to interpret road signs. So, don’t move to Michigan.
I’m glad I got that off my chest.
In Tennessee they raised the gas tax .10 more a gallon to fix the roads. Don't know what the total gas tax is now but Roads are worse now than before the tax. Only roads I see getting fixed are bicycle lanes and how I hate them. The bicycle demands the road. Have to give them part of your lane. They are a safety hazard. Don't pay any registration fees. Don't carry insurance. They Don't obey traffic laws because they don't apply to them, only motorized vehicles have to obey the law. Get what they want by crying and bitching about the unfairness. If they cause an accident it is always YOUR fault not theirs. Hmm, I think I just described the millennials.

You can safely cross the communist liberal democrat state of Maryland off your list of places to move to....if every normal person in this state voted twice or even three times we cant outnumber the jobless libtards in Baltimore and the outskirts of D.C.

My thread of a few months ago, is now ready to be updated. Colorado is not yet in the rear view mirror, but it is getting closer fast. I am sure many thought I was just all talk, and would never make the move.
But, I have a contract on the house. Closing is later this summer. I have pulled down all my big game mounts, have my books and furs boxed up. Painters are coming next week to repaint most of the inside of the house, I have just a few more small things to fix on the house before it is no longer mine. My employer / friends have decided to pull up stakes too, we are all getting out. Currently I do not have a place to move to, but I have most of the summer to find one.
I have been selling off tons of stuff, throwing tons of stuff away, giving stuff away, and shortly I will be down to only the stuff that matters.

Nearly everyday I am reminded of why I want to leave Colorado. I just bought a new to me car, a 1996 4Runner. A $2500 car cost me $216 to register! They actually have an extra fee for cars over a certain age!

Just a suggestion. Don't worry about finding a house in a hurry. Rent for a few months and put extra stuff in storage. Take your time looking for a new home. Find the right one.

I understand your reasons to leave Colorado and I could add a few more.BUT last year I visited my daughter's family on Long Island and couldn't believe how bad it got since I moved out of there in 1984! It was going downhill then.
I went to Denver last week for the Colorado Gun Collectors show and the traffic there wasn't much better, Thank goodness none of the newly arrived Colorado transplants seem to like the Denver-Boulder-Ft Collins area .They don't seem to like my little patch of dirt down here in Pueblo and I hope it stays that way.

If and when the proposed tax hike of .42 per gallon is passed, and you know it will be, Michigan will have a whopping .86 tax on gasoline. At that rate we could repave our roads with dollar bills.

Nevada has turned bright blue due to 2 counties & the bastards are passing every gun bill they can think of!!. The rest of the state is red. I'm out of here in Nov.

How much of that $216 is sales tax?

Btw, the Age of Vehicle Add-on fee actually is reduced for older vehicles as the explanation below indicates.

“An additional registration fee of $12.00 for vehicles less than 7 yrs. old; $10.00 for 7 yrs. but less than 10 yrs; and $7.00 for 10 yrs. and older.”

I have a 2002 4RUNNER and my registration fees were $73 this year.
