The 400 Yard Lever Action Rifle

P4160041.JPG Here is mine. It's an 1893 Marlin Deluxe takedown 30WCF {30-30} made in 1905?{estimated based on serial number due to the records being burned up in a fire back then}. I'm not going to say it will "impress" anyone with fantastic groups, but at 400 yards plus or minus a few I have killed deer with it...open sights too!!

Just out of curiosity... how do the old Browning BLR's compare in the accuracy dept?

I have shot them and they will surprise you. Not all, but most of them if scoped will put 'em right in there. The ones I have played around with shot 1" groups at 100 with a scope. They really are nice rifles and have a short lever throw and very good trigger too.

One word. Gorgeous.

And those buckhorn sights are pretty sweet!

Copy that! Don't forget the ultra gloss walnut stock and gold trigger.

My one buddy has one in 257 Bob, very sweet rifle.

I have a couple blr's, the old steel frame pre-81's. One in 358 Win shoots amazingly well, I think it is a MOA rifle but have only shot with open sights...it's very consistent.

Another one I pulled the barrel and chambered up a lightweight Shilen 25 caliber barrel to 250 Savage. That one has a scope and seems to be easy MOA although by how much I don't know...just zeroed it for hunting and started killing deer but it struck me as very accurate also.

I still have one steel frame BLR in 308 that I'm going to pull the barrel...just haven't decided what to chamber it's replacement in...maybe an 8tw 224 cal...22 Creedmoor? THAT would be a 400 and beyond rifle for sure. With the 250 Savage and 358 Win I have the bases covered for the most part and just haven't settled on what to do with that other one.

What did the Henry 6.5 group like at 100Y?

I only did a preliminary sight-in to get my 100 yard zero. 1st and only 3 shots to get on paper. I plan on producing a 100 yard video soon. However, Turkey season here in Ohio opens next Monday, so another thing to add to my ever growing list....lol.

I had a BLR in .243 that was as accurate as any bolt gun. I had the trigger worked a bit, but it still was a bit heavy. I really like the looks of the Henry, but I do not like a gun that I cannot completely take apart-easily. I also wish that there was a way that they could lighten the trigger a bit on the lever rifles.
