Range know it alls !

I use to do that till I witnessed the struggling guys' gun have a major problem and blow the bolt thru his shoulder. Now I speak up or get the RO . Somethings should be stopped before its to late . That was a nice Mauser , poor gun didn't deserve to go boom .

That’s a totally different situation . This was pure arrogance at its finest .

Hi guys !

Just a quick vent . My buddy and I were at the range over the weekend and I was changing his Savage barrel for him . These 2 clowns came over and wouldn’t leave us alone . I’ve done this many times , so I’m not a newbie at it . I held my tongue , but next time I won’t. I’ve been told guys at the range are more than willing to help , but guys , please wait till you are asked for your help ! Otherwise u make yourself look like a know it all !

Have you added those same type of people on here to your ignore list :)

Simple solution, build your own private range! It wasn't easy but I now have my Happy Spot. You are at a public range, I've been frustrated too but you have to keep in mind, its PUBLIC, learn to deal with it.

I think instead of me learning how to deal with arrogant people they could learn to not be so arrogant ! Just a thought !

And I really haven’t had any people on here be arrogant with me . I’ve asked questions and they have been gracious enough to answer my questions , which I really appreciate. I think that’s the way it’s supposed to work .

Savagemark I wish I could just watch someone(you) change a barrel. Only one I have is a TC Dimension, don't think it really counts. I might even buy a Savage if I knew how to do it. Than I wouldn't be waiting on my smith for 3 1/2 months.

That’s also why I got into doing my own gunsmithing , the 1-6 month wait time . Plus there is a great satisfaction seeing a gun that u built shoot tiny little groups .

I guess I could spend 5 grand to have a custom built for me , but then it’s not really MY gun . It’s someone else’s ! Just my opinion .

You have a great day !

These are guys you really need to worry about at the public ranges, not the folks that just want to have a conversation with a like-minded shooter...

Lol ! It’s not people that want to have a like minded conversation that irritates me . It’s the people that think they know everything and will voice their opinion without being asked for it !

Opportunity squandered, I've been told I'm extremely good at not getting annoyed and proceeding to stroke the egos of annoying uninvited guest, while subtly breaking their B@!!$ until they crawl away. It's an art, but with some practice you can avoid ruining your day. :)

Yea , I see your point . But I don’t have the time or patience to stroke somebodies ego because they have issues . Maybe they could just leave me alone !

I probably wouldn’t change a barrel at the range but if I were I would expect on lookers.
Most fellas don’t mean disrespect it’s mostly perception isn’t it?

Quiet on lookers are no problem at all !

Onlookers that think they know everything and can’t help their mouth is a problem I won’t deal with anymore !

Imagine someone coming over and sitting almost on your lap while your concentrating on your shooting and telling u while your shooting how they do it and questioning why you are doing it the way you are . You might want to tell them to get the F away from you !

When I first started shooting, Nobody, I Mean Nobody would share information. Not one person asked if I ever fired a Rifle before..And being an Expert in My Field, I was shocked. I still don't like being bothered when I'm working up a load or breaking in a new piece, But I have found a watchful eye can prevent a catastrophe. It's a fine line having to be aware of the Other Dangers around you, and Ignoring them to a fault..Just my 2.

I haven’t run into too many know it alls yet but I haven’t got as much time on the line as most of y’all. One of my pet peeves is when on the longer range line where the shooters are mutually calling our own cease fires, somebody will drive up, jump out of their truck, and immediately start up and down the line trying to call a cease fire without asking anybody how long since the last one. When it’s muddy it may take us 15 minutes for guys to walk down to the 600 targets and back, and two minutes after we start shooting again, Johnny-come-lately needs to hang his target like right now. Ever heard of situational awareness, or noticed there are some other people sharing the facility?

Learn to deal with it or build your own range, simple really.

Ok, two guys show up.I`m the only one on the range. They get out and walk over to me and the "expert" says we need to hang a target as he is charging the other guy by the hour for advice.I say ,go ahead. I sit for about five minutes until the xpert finds the target and then bums pushpins off me. Target hung,as they walk back past me the pert says to the sucker I don`t need all that fancy, expensive crap to shoot. Pointing to my Rem. 700 HB setting in an AICS stock. Fancy Leupie scope. Now they bring the suckers gun to the line. I`m not sure what kind of bolt action it was, didn`t care, but I watched to pick up some pointers from a walking, talking shooting legend. He the pert tells his client the first thing we always do is clean the rifle before we shoot and proceeds to stick the cleaning rod down the barrel from the 'exit hole" his term. I,being the helpful person I am, packed up and went home. Laughing the whole way. They ARE everywhere. Have a good weekend guys. Jeff

Do most of my shooting at two different clubs. At my original club, I am the top gun (shark), two years ago, started shooting 600 yards (guppy). Either place, outside of "hi", I try not to speak, unless spoken to and never criticize another person's equipment. I truly enjoy my time spent shooting, but it is also a search for knowledge. I'm retired and in my 60's, so I have time, and like a good conversation and have had many of them at the range, but try to be constantly aware that some people just want to shoot and leave. Just got my NRA RSO card, so maybe, I will be forced to speak up. In life you can speak up and convince people you are a fool, or stay quiet and just let them think it.
