I said my k&m shank is 11/32. Didn't measure the hole. I don't think it's a tight fit, there is an allen pin to hold it in the spot.How do you get 3/8" which is 12/32 in a 11/32" hole ?

I also bought a "3/8" arbor depth gauge non-k&m and it fits fine on the side hole.
Edit: We'll.. you are right, the 3/8" depth gauge does not even come close to fitting the pilot hole.
I have the 21st Century Lathe with the drill he recommends. I am totally pleased with the setup and glad I did not spend the extra cash on the motorized version.
