Norma brass is excellent stuff. It is dimensionally as good as it gets. It is tough and the primer pockets will remain tight, unless of course you W-A-Y over pressure the case, which is T-Totally unnecessary! I do hope that Lapua or ADG gets into the fray, if for no other reason than to keep the supply high..

Norma brass in this caliber is good, but not all lot numbers are the same, like any other product. Back when bullets.com was in business I managed to get a thousand piece box that was on sale and already had several 100 piece bags of it in hand. I have tried Nosler which I do not believe is as good. My personal opinion is that the 25 round boxes of Norma brass are the best from a quality standpoint, and they are more expensive than purchasing in bulk 100 round bags. Another option is 270 WSM and necking it up with a 30 cal. Mandrel. I have six 25 round boxes on order of this brass and can report back if anyone is interested.
Bertram brand in 300 WSM I don’t have any experience with but I’m not impressed with Bertram’s overall quality in a few other calibers.
I have sent an email to Ben Preston at Peterson expressing desire for them to bring 300 WSM brass to market. Ben stated that they were very busy with other products so I’m not holding my breath for Peterson to come out with it. ADG stated last year in a reply that they planned to bring it to market in late 2019 which I would welcome as their brass in 3 other calibers has been very good.
So for now Norma brass in this particular caliber is the best option IMO.

I use Shooters Choice FP-10 Oil when I'm turning & expanding brass for the most part, I like the consistency of it better than some of the thicker by name neck-turning lubes. - I'm sure that there are other decent lube choices available. - I've also used Imperial Sizing Die wax which works well also. - I haven't tried the dry type lubes when expanding but I'm sure that the NECO dry moly lube or the Imperial Dry neck lube or straight fine graphite would work well. - Even & controlled pressure (press ram stroke) and not over-achieving is what I try to do.

I just received the Norma 270 WSM brass in the mail. - In raw state the necks (average) measured 0.0158 to 0.0162. - I happen to be working some brass of the same case-head size so I lubed the neck on 1 piece and expanded the neck up from .270 cal. to 30 cal. - I'm using a pretty big press here (RCBS Ammo Master) and I was a bit surprised at the amount of force that it took to get it expanded. But steady force was used and it went up without problems. - I then cleaned the neck and measured it. it came to approx. 0.0146 which should neck turn with ease for the 0.3395 chamber necks that I'm using in the rifles I shoot. - I'll turn it to 0.0140 for 0.0035 clearance which has worked well in the past. - I need to do a case capacity check comparison with regular 300 Norma 300 WSM brass to see where things sit prior to loading.

Never seen the brass for sale though on it's own.

RWS is Swiss (aka:RUAG) and is excellent as far as a product line. Getting ahold of it here in the U.S.A. would pose the challenges.

Bottom line we need a specialty brass maker to step-up and make the brass. - The demand is there I don't understand why they've continued to delay. - I myself would by 500+ pieces of it.

I talked to ADG about coming out with 300 WSM brass. They mentioned that for them to bring on a new cartridge they need a OEM company to make a big investment to get them started. Its why they went with so much more 30 Nosler than 28 Nosler. We both agreed that it would sell quite well. But they need that initial investor.

I did check Huntington's website to see if 300WSM was listed and it's not unfortunately and last time I spoke to anyone on the phone there I might as well have been calling the moon.

I know that for hunting, the .300WSM is "somewhat" in demand. For BenchRest it is in demand. However, it has yet to "catch on" in F-Open. However, I am hoping that since John Myers shot an 1800 out of a possible 1800 with tremendous X count at the Nationals and then turned around and won the Berger SouthWest Nationals, it will catch on. Personally, I believe it will. If in fact it does, between hunting, Benchrest and F-Open, there should be enough demand for some company to take the investment plunge. ADG or Lapua would be the logical choices, and I think it would pay big dividends to the one who arrives first! Let's hope it catches on!!

A guy I know bought a bunch of loaded ammo from Midway when it was on clearance a few years ago. It was stamped RWS and had a darker color them Norma. I believe they made it. He said he thought it was harder then Norma. Matt

Matt I'm working on some RWS brass right now to try this year. Bought it at the range last year. So I will be doing a test with the stuff.
