Kreiger "Deep Chambered" Barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor?

I have an older post-64 Winchester M70 Match Rifle in 308 Win with an Obermeyer 1:11" 5R barrel. I shot this rifle both "across the course" and long-range for a long time. Unfortunately, I don't have a good round count down the barrel. But I am pretty confident that the barrel has seen better days - poor groups with historically good loads (all of a sudden) and ugly first 12" when bore scoped.

The action has had all of the clean up and truing done to it, Jewel trigger and McMillian "1911-style Prone" stock (pillar bedded, 5-way butt plate). So it is a really nice rifle.

I don't use this rifle a lot anymore, but my local club is going to be having some mid-range matches which I would like to shoot it in. So, I am contemplating purchasing a Kreiger "deep chambered", #18 Light-Varmint, 1:8", 5R in 6.5 Creedmoor. I have an old (but reasonably tight) South Bend 9" lathe and would like to try my hand at threading, head spacing and installing the barrel. While I am neither a machinist or a gunsmith, I have done a fair amount of both on a hobby/competitive shooter basis.

My questions are:

1. Has anyone purchased and installed one of the Kreiger "deep-chambered barrels? If so, what was your experience?
2. Do you think the 1:8" twist barrel is adequate for 140-147 gr. bullets out to 600 yds. (maybe a 1,000 once in a while), or should I go to a faster twist?
3. Any advice on loads?

I shoot a 6.5 x 47 with 8 twist and 142 gr. MK. Does well 100 thru 1000.

For a mid range rife I would do a 6 BR every day
Krieger will build you a great chambered barrel and it's an hour job to head space a push feed if you have a gunsmith handy. Can you get one to start shooting as soon as you would like

I'm new to this but might I suggest that you dont go too deep in chamber in respect to mag length.
I'm thinking you'd have trouble chasing the lands.
Thoughts?

They generally chamber them about 10-20 thou long (deep)..does not affect throat dimensions.
Had a couple Pac nors LC and it was an easy fit and both shot very well
On the other hand they cost the same as a custom fit barrel by a good smith

The "deep chamber" refers to them cutting the chamber .100" to .200" deeper than required, so you remove material from the shank to set the headspace and thread the barrel to fit your receiver.

In my experience it's 10-20 thou deep not 100 -200 thou

Did not mean to offend. When I got the Pac-Nor deep chambered rifles I provided them the receiver to bolt face dimension and they built them very close. And mine were threaded, just had to face off the shoulder and breech to set HS.
At any rate I'm sure Kreiger knows what they are doing and will provide you a good barrel
