financial update : DKS sheds 6.5% value in equity market today

Dicks Sporting Goods reported declines in earnings and sales 4Q 2018, sending shares tumbling early today. A "hunting-sector deceleration" in February and March 2018 contributed to declining margins in 2018.

Dicks was one of several retailers to remove AR 15 type rifles entirely from its stock, and raised the age the store will sell rifles to individuals to 21. The legal age to own a long rifle is 18.

Not really old news. Dick's Sporting Goods is taking the next step to stop selling ALL hunting rifles and ammo in 125 of their stores. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to decipher this one out..............no more killing
anything. Bambi is safe. Also kicking Reebock to the curb and replace it with their private label brands.
Their marketing department is clueless. You think those entitled kids want to wear Dick's sneakers?

I expect that Dick’s Sporting Goods is not selling off the shelf commodity guns as the margins are low and the paper work is a PITA. Just business....

I haven't been in Dick's since they got real stupid. But... my wife bought a pair of Brooks running shoes last week from them. She wasn't aware of their stupidness.
